My fault, I apologise if you have experienced any spam.
I did just google ethical "engagement ring" and then post some results.
Seems brillian are happy for the exposure but I must say I have nothing to do with them, they were a random link pulled out of the intertubes."Gold is the money of kings; silver is the money of gentlemen; barter is the money of peasants; but debt is the money of slaves." - Norm Franz0 -
To be fair I don't think they were aware of the rules, being a new user. For what it's worth, I have found Brillian to be very helpful and communicative and I think it's highly likely I will get my engagement ring from them.
No harm done, IMHO.0 -
The problem I have is the 3 or 4 rings I really like are all in fraser hart.
Compared to the likes of Ernest Jones or Goldsmiths, Hart are just so much dearer!! I know I'll get a lot more carat for my money elsewhere but check out this ring!! - http://www.fraserhart.co.uk/p-1557-18ct-white-gold-114ct-total-diamond-ring-colour-gh-clarity-si.aspx
Anyone had any dealings with fraser hart, would asking for 15% off be cheeky?0 -

Thanks emz, wish I had got in there before the VAT rise! I will probably go with Brillian as they offered the old VAT rate plus discount if we purchase within 30 days. Got to take savings where you can!0 -

The sample they sent is of very good quality and they have been really helpful so far so that seems a good sign. The wedding ring I like from there is less than £130 if I get white gold (I like plain!) so seems a good idea.
hey, just reading your post there noticed you were talking about a platinum engagement ring but white gold wedding ring?It is normally recommended you wear the same metals together as otherwise the hardwr metal will wear down the softer. hope this helps!0 -
yeh thats true
i have a 18ct white gold engagement ring, so had to go for 18ct wedding ring, if i had gone for 9ct the enagement ring would have rubbed it downIs a married woman!! 23rd July 2011 Best day of my life!

You definitely should not mix platinum and 18 carat gold as the gold is a much softer composition.0
