"thanked 0 times in zero posts". Gee, I wonder why...

I think he makes a perfectly valid point, actually.

EDIT: Although the 'brain-dead' part was a little strong.
Only when the last tree has died
and the last river has been poisoned
and the last fish has been caught
will we realise we cannot eat money

I agree to a certain extent but each to their own and all that jazz!! :)
  • I used to do similar when I was in my late teens. Here's some of the stuff I got up to: Got a lift from a very famous DJ once to an event who asked me what I was doing that evening as he fancied doing a little partying with me (ooh!), met Kylie (when she was semi famous), got snogged by the members of one hit wonder "1927", sat and had a drink with "Candyflip", "Sinitta", and "Yell" backstage at a J17 party, met Rebel MC at Covent Gardens, and more recently got to go to Abbey Road for an album release and met a few celebs (albeit minor ones). But got up to tonnes when I was 18/19, got autograph albums and photo albums full of photos. Also got to look into Robbie Williams' back garden in Notting Hill when he was there as hubby had a mate who lived at the back of him. And got in a lift at the Chelsea Village Hotel with Geoff Hurst and Harry Redknapp too last year. lol.
Everyone has a photographic memory, it's just some of them don't have film.

I agree also that the point is valid, and also that it was unecessarily strongly worded, but it's like going onto the free cinema ticket thread and posting something like "only idiots go to the cinema...".
My point is that this is not the place for such comments, however a thread titled "Celebrities: Your opinions here" would be.
(Sorry to be persistant, my dad always says I have to have tha last word!)

A good post, I don't live near London any more, but hit thanks as it's what Money Saving is all about. Some kids would find this to be a great day out.
Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!
  • A great way to meet authors and artists is to go to book signings and events such as "The Big Draw" (https://www.drawingpower.org.uk). My daughter had signed original drawings by such luminaries as Sir Peter Blake, Quentin Blake, Nick Sharratt, Axel Scheffler (The Gruffalo), Helen Craig (Angelina Ballerina) and tons of cartoonists. She now has a mini art gallery at home of around 30 originals.

Occassionally you may accidently run into a reality TV star. Feel free to kick them (it's OK, they like the attention)...

Mine's only eleven and already graduating to Green Day. Wants to go to V Festival next year with her mates (Not gonna happen, kid!). Soon it'll be Slipknot and I'll have lost her for ever

I think kids today enjoy live music at a much earlier age, having said that I clearly recall the horror of my mother when I came home wearing a motorhead T Shirt at 11 (Given to me by an older cousin!).

The whole festival experiance can be great for kids, most other festival goers are very tolerant of the littler ones, and under 12 its free! Take her along, you may enjoy it.

As for slipknot....well, least said lol
  • My 8 year old, 13 year old and I queued for 2 hours at Leeds festival to meet My Chemical Romance, 8 year old DD was completely in awe at meeting her heroes! She went on to meet "The Automatic" and "Aiden", both bands she adores.

There is nothing unusual with a small girl wanting to meet bands, DD was 6 when I first took her to Leeds festival and has been a big music fan ever since. Im not saying its common for little girls to have a big music knowledge, but it does happen.

I wasn't being nasty! I just think it's funny that that dispite mike's lyrical content, he still seems to attract young kids. Take his last album for example. There is a complete track that is a detailed guide in the art of conning someone. It involves actually stealing someones dog from a park! Another track is about how much fun it is to smash up hotel rooms... sprinkle that with tales of cocane use and it seems that kids can wait to get their hands on their album.

I'll let Mike know when I see him next that he should get his face in Disney or CBeebies magazines!
Remember, more than money, the most important thing is love. Love is what makes us rich.

Celebrities are just normal people with unusual jobs, and/or too much exposure in the media. Did I miss the point of this post, or did you just wanted to brag/namedrop a little?

Someone found a place where people who, for whatever reason they have for wanting to do that, can meet them. Good for the celeb hunters! I honestly hope they enjoy it :) But can't we leave it at that? I don't want this forum to turn into a big discussion about what we think about celebrities or bragging about who we've all met.

I really appologise if someone find my message harsh or offensive as that is not my intention! But it just doesn't seem to me that this is the right forum for messages like this.

Hope y'all will have a good week :)
