My boyfriend lives in London and used to spend all his weekends standing around outside hotels, theatres and TV studios waiting for famous people to go in or come out. He's got loads of autographs of famous people and pictures taken with them. Apparantly you meet the same autograph hunters everywhere and they will give you tips about who's where at the time so you can meet them. You also need to be clued up on who's on This Morning, Who's on the Lorraine Kelly programme, who's on the radio etc etc. Also if you have a decent looking camera always take it with you as they will presume your a photographer and invite you in. My bf got into an exclusive Robbie Williams party that way.

I must say it's never really interested me about meeting loads of famous people. They are just people to me. Unless it was Robert Smith of course :D

Why would anyone want to waste time meeting vapid individuals merely because they're well known for being in the media? Are you all brain-dead?

Each to his own, but I think it's a fabulous idea as normally to meet celebs you'll need to buy something (tickets & backstages passes etc). Even better, these are REAl celebrities, not Big Brother finalists!

Yes, the OP did mention kids and queueing up to see "celebs" has been on the go for a long, long time. At least some of the names mentioned** are a bit higher up the scale than the "reality" TV lot...

    **apparently I'm sort-of old...

TV shows are good places to meet the stars afterwards, get the free tickets and loiter in the studio!

I've met Kelsey Grammer (Frasier), Jon Culshaw (Dead Ringers) and Frank Skinner this way.

I also saw Usher walking thru Covent Garden FWIW.

A little girl wanting to meet The Streets?

My 8 year old, 13 year old and I queued for 2 hours at Leeds festival to meet My Chemical Romance, 8 year old DD was completely in awe at meeting her heroes! She went on to meet "The Automatic" and "Aiden", both bands she adores.

There is nothing unusual with a small girl wanting to meet bands, DD was 6 when I first took her to Leeds festival and has been a big music fan ever since. Im not saying its common for little girls to have a big music knowledge, but it does happen.

Mine's only eleven and already graduating to Green Day. Wants to go to V Festival next year with her mates (Not gonna happen, kid!). Soon it'll be Slipknot and I'll have lost her for ever...

I kind of agree with the first part of allen's view, just not his mean and grumpy way of saying it.. I do miss the time when the musicians on the hit lists had talent, could actually sing, wrote their own songs, and didn't have to perform half-naked.. and we were spared for people in the media famous for being famous, but without any actual talents, like Rebecca Loose, Paris Hilton, Jade Goody and her ex-boyfriend Jeff.. And I'm not old, only in my 20s. I just appreciate talent and quality.

When that's said, it's a matter of what you like and not I guess, so if you enjoy chasing these celebrities, have fun :)
