There will probably be a BT master socket somewhere - the one that doesn't have ntl/Virgin written on it, it might have a T or BT logo or no logo depending on how old it is. So that can be connected.

If you want broadband, cable broadband can rarely be beaten but cable phone calls are not the cheapest. The combined bundle of phone/broadband on cable is well priced relative to the quality and the installation cost to set up cable phone/broadband is usually much, much less than the cost just to reconnect a BT line.

On the other hand if you're not interested in broadband and/or don't need quick speeds (ADSL may provide perfectly acceptable speeds or useless speeds, it's all hit and miss though you can obtain an estimated speed), you can have ADSL down the phone line and therefore could look at bundled packages of line rental and ADSL.

Or, Primus for line rental and someone else for broadband.

First thing to determine is cable (phone/broadband) or telephone based/ADSL. If the former the choice of suppliers is a choice of one so that solves it all.
