Knock on door from Scottish & Southern - is this a scam?

So none of this is relevant?

What inside knowledge do you have which overrides this?
I don't have "inside knowledge", but I do have experience of trying to do my part in getting it stopped.
Within days of the BBC report I had a call from a Scottish and Southern rep.
See my post https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2729249
S & S were not interested in hearing about my experience. Their call centre knew nothing of the Customer Focus interest.
Customer Focus were interested, took my details, gave me a reference number and said they would get back to me.
Over three months later I have heard nothing.
Most weeks someone posts reports on this forum on S & S continuing with their underhanded selling methods. S & S are obviously not put off using these methods by any conclusions from an organisation about to disappear.
Surely after three months something should have changed if S & S really thought Customer Focus involvement would be effective.0 -
It is best to report it, I had a smart Alec from British Gas saying can I look @ your meter blah blah and I sent him off with a flea in his ear (and probably allover his coat-I have a cat!! Ha Ha)
I complained to BG and they took it seriously saying he was disciplined or sacked.0 -
I had door knockers recently from SWALEC (who are actually part of Scottish & Southern!!) - their opening gambit was a plea for me to be patriotic and support my local Welsh supplier by transferring back from "one of these foreign companies"!!0

Always put a complaint to them in writing. That way they are obliged to give you a response.
I had a similar experience with Npower recently.

They were a bit of a joke throughout the process but eventually the matter was resolved.Call centres aren't going to do anything other than try and get rid of you.0 -
Never ever sign up at the door!
I am a retired SSE metering/accounts and I have had them call on me.
They do not work for SSE as they work for an agency.
Just tell them to p**s off.0 -
What I want to know is how are these shysters able to move on? That's what they do move from company to company before they get found out. Do they have a list of bogus references they all give for each other or what?Mixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0

Well presumably the companies would want to ensure they at least have a chance of recruiting people who don't have form. Oh wait...Mixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0
