Hi Nikki -That sounds like a good idea. A few more months means LOTS of time for saving more coins so I hope you have lots of luck in finding some before then :j

No probs toriterrier ;) 'tis all true :D

I found one under my shelf yesterday - must have jumped out of the pot as it didn't want to be counted, but I'm afraid he has been caught and put back where he belongs with his friend

    Obs x

  • I always find when I am saving these I seem to get nothing other than them, my hubby finds this annoying though as he keeps handing the cash back to me to save!!

This time is no exception - My only cash purchase this week and another 2 into the tub :) I am going to stop counting each one though - as I would like a surprise next Christmas to see how much I have collected :)

I think saving them for a purpose is a good idea .... I am trying to save enough for a new car!!

  • Well I spoke too soon! I have 7(!!!) coins sat in front of me! Over the past week we have collected 7 coins. I wasn't adding them until I had bought my sealed tin, which I got today, and now there's 7! I don't think we can afford all 7 to go in at once, so I'll add 4 in and if I find that I don't need them I'll add them in.

So £8 for me in the 2012 tin!!!
  • Can I please join this challenge would like to put the £2 coins i get towards paying for xmas next year, so I'm not paying for it on credit cards like this year!!!

2012 is the year I sort myself out :j:j

    Morning.

See toriaterrier - its all or nothing here!!! Weeks without any then 7 at once, impressive :D So it was worth getting that pot after all :rotfl:

Gonna be debt free - did you find any coins when shopping the other day?

Welcome fionamacf1 :j. Please feel free to join in as soon as you are able. Reports of £2's are always welcome :T

Always the busy bee I am loving your enthusiasm! Always good to aim high, and with your hubby helping so much, how can you possibly fail!!!

As you all know PMo2 is the person who started this thread - I've been having a look around and I don't think she has been on the forums at all for at least 2-3 months. I will pm her as well as I don't want to tread on any toes :o, but I was wondering whether we would all like a new 2012 thread starting if I don't hear back from her? I would be happy to run it if everyone is happy with that unless anyone else has an interest in doing so?

Blowing a gale outside today so stay inside and warm if you can! On the other hand I am about to venture out .........see you all later

That's an excellent idea, I'm sure PMo2 wouldn't have any objections. If you're happy to oversee the thread, I'd like to 'sign up' as a 2012 saver

  • I am sure she would not mind Observer - It might be easier for people to use the 2012 to keep themselves up to date and for other people to find it.

Lol yes I am enthusiastic, I have been stuck in a rut for that long I don't know what savings are .... DH has had another £2 coin which I promptly swapped for 2 x £1 coins ... can't leave him short for his lunches :o

He is happy with the savings building up though, means we have a tiny amount to fall back on at the moment hopefully in a month or two it will be a small amount but enough to make a difference.

I am amazed really at how much is frittered away without us realising :o

Very true, it's only when you see it mounting up in a pile that you realise.

I've saved my little stash by simply making a few very small economies, which to be honest I've not even noticed. Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves as they say.
