Ah well. Due to a blip with some pay at the end of last week, pot has been emptied, yet again.

Back from hero to zero. I still have a rough idea of how much was, thats should, be in the pot, now. If i'd spent it on seagulls whilst it was there, well , i'd be getting a break, but on the other hand? Its been raided so many times, i can't keep up with it. Maybe i should write an iou and leave it in my empty pot. Maybe i should just give up this feeble attempt at saving. It aint ever going to happen, realistically.

Ani - I think you are looking at this the wrong way round. You had saved £90 to be used when it was needed - which just happened to be this week, There is no problem in that. If you hadn't had that money sitting there waiting then you would have had to get it from somewhere else - a credit card which you would need to pay interest on, a loan/overdraft which would need paying back at some point etc???? Surely this is a much better and more prepared option. So I personally think you should be proud you had saved it and it was there waiting for when you really needed it.

Don't give up - start saving again and if you NEED to spend it then at least you don't have to take it from money allocated for something else xx :j

Grumswife - Of course you are welcome to join this challenge. And wow what an amazing start! Just post when you can to let us know how you are doing :D

Also welcome to GAP and happy daddy. I'm sure Tea will be along at some point to allocate you all a number but for now feel free to join in whenever you can :T

    Hi,
    May i join please?

I have just found out the pleasure of saving £2 coins in the past 2 weeks, not thinking i would get many but i have managed to save £26 so far.

I am putting them in one of those sealed tins so won't open it until it's full(hopefully). ;)

I've just stumbled across this thread and i'd like to join in if I may. My partner saves £2 coins in a terramundi which is quite large and it's taking ages to fill. I normally give some to him when I get them but I think I may start my own collection. I've saved £2 coins in the past but I need to be saving them in one of those tins you have to open with a tin opener or i'll keep dipping in when I need bits and bobs.

Does anyone know where I can get one which is the size of a tin of beans rather than those bigger tins like large dog food size ? I'd like to save in normal sized tins rather than big ones ;)

    Hi Pippy

    hi Linz

Welcome both!! Tea will be along to give you a number at some point I'm sure. I'm not sure where you can get these tins. Have you tried poundland or somewhere equally cheap cause otherwise it defeats the object slightly by paying for a tin to save into :rotfl:! I'm sure someone else will know thou :D

Good luck with the saving. Coins do seem to come in waves and occassionally pots need emptying so as to put some £2's back into circulation - we don't want to use them all up now do we

Hope you are all enjoying the sunny weather.

Have had a look around and can only see the large tins. Not to worry, I have a small ceramic cottage money box so i'll save £2's in there instead and try not to dip in. It probably holds about £100-£150 when full so each time it fills I will probably bag them up and put the money into an ISA.

    Have £6 so far :)

Can I join please ??? I was doing the sealed pot but this has proved a non starter after I raided it much earlier in the year. My coin of choice for saving though is £2 coins and I would love to start saving these again.

For ages I was saving them in a teramundi pot. Then I saw a coat I liked in de&enham$ (it was £95:eek:) and i couldn't justify the expenditure so I raided my teramundi pot - well what we actually did was drill a hole in the bottom and tip all the coins out. :j I was absolutely astounded to discover I had saved £280 :D As it turned out the coat was horrible :rotfl:but I soon spent the money on other clothes :j:T:j and bits and pieces :D

Anyway that was a couple of years ago and although I have saved the odd £2 coin since, I soon raid the stash and thus my efforts have been somewhat disappointing.

I have been on holiday this week and I had no money saved for it so begrudged paying for the extras so I have decided that I am going to start saving again so that my next holiday can be enjoyed with no fret about the bank balance.

The only thing I need to decide is whether i save them in my new teramundi pot or whether I save them in an empty nescafe coffee pot that I nabbed from the office? I know if I don't put them in a sealed pot, I'll spend them.... Has anyone ever filled a teramundi pot with £2 coins and know how much they hold ?
