  • OMG! I checked in my tin to have a look at my £2.00 stash and.....It has all gone  I've been throwing them in an old tin which I keep next to my seat in the living room, there was about £20.00 in there.

I work away a lot during the week, my mum has a granny annexe on my house to look after my two boys, aged 17 and 15. She recently got a part time job which takes her out of the house for three hours from 4 - 7 pm during the week, which leaves the boys alone for that time if I'm not around. I came home from Belgium yesterday to find my eldest son and a 'friend' lounging round in the living room, but they went out soon after.

When I checked my tin this morning, it was empty! I rang my son at college to ask him if he knew anything about it (I hadn't told anyone I was saving them, I was going to use them for a surprise) but he said no. My youngest has aspergers and has no interest in money whatsoever.

When he came in I interrogated him more (as only a mum can do) and we can only assume that one of his friends has taken the money

I have now put a blanket ban on ANY friends coming over if me or my mum are not in. I am absolutely gutted! I can't abide thieves, and to think someone has robbed me makes me SOOOOOOO ANGRY.

Sorry for the rant. I will start again, but this time I will hide my tin

  • Oh Anxious_mum that's terrible ((((BIG HUGS))))

That's not a very nice thing to happen to you and I cannot say I blame you putting the ban in place I would to if it was one of my two involved.

Here's hoping that you are able to get a good start again and I agree definately hide your tin next time.

    Tea
    xx
  • Thanks Purpletea, I'm just happy it was only £20.00. It could have been £200!! But I have learnt a valuable lesson. I may trust my sons, but my eldest son's friends are an unknown area, and although I've always welcomed his friends into my house previously, that has now stopped! To whichever tealeaf nicked it, I hope his b**** shrivel up and drop off!

    Hi there,
just found this thread. I treated myself to a terramundi pot with some of my xmas money and decided to save £2 coins in it. So I'll have to wait til it's full to find out how much I will have saved.
Could you please add my name to the list?
    Many thanks.
  • While out food shopping today, I got 3 and I wanted to get chicken for dinner and I kept watching the 3 £2 coins in my purse and I said to myself "too bad maybe another day I'll get that chicken, but not today!":D It was a fight with myself but I came home without the chicken. So we had a vegetarian dinner. :)
