the fine will be increased by 50%. so will go up to £90 but the court will allow installments, and YOU have to make them priority (there words not mine) this happened when the cheque i sent for a 30 seat belt offence a while back didnt get there at all.. went up to £45 but the court allowed 2/3 payments of 15 per fortnight..

edit re the lost license.. if you told the officer at the time you have lost it they normally extend the produce period to 14 days (they did for me) - unrelated to the seatbelt fine tho..

  • you normally have a long time to produce your license i have been cautioned after a producer for no license as DVLA already had it for change of address

they can check on their computers any way they just say the whole "you may not say anything but it may harm you if you ...... lost interest in that"
  • You don't need to send in your birth certificate for a replacement licence. There is an on-line form or you can get a paper form from the post office. You have to make a declaration that you are currently a resident of the UK, and provide details of your address etc. It should be a fairly painless process. When I did mine the licence was back with me in a few days.

"You can replace your current British driving licence online if you:

have a valid UK passport or another form of identity, if you are replacing a paper licence"

For a speed camera you can request photographic evidence (they will send it) should give you a couple of weeks extra time.

    No he can't.

If he already has the ticket he has named himself as the driver.

I got a ticket sent to me as the registered keeper, I asked for a photo and got one.

    No you got an NIP.

They only send a photo to help ID the driver.

i requested a photo once as i wanted it since i was paying £60 for it

interestingly they said i couldnt have it as it would be shown in court, this made me wonder if there was something amiss in the photo but as i knew i was speeding and saw the flash i just paid the £60 fine as i didnt want the court costs.

it just seemed odd that they wouldnt disclose the photo (but apparently they dont have to)

I seem to be in a bit of a pickle.

I've got a £60 speeding ticket to pay within 2 weeks but I'm on an income of £65pw JSA. I can't both pay this ticket & heat/feed myself over Xmas. What options do I have (if any). For example, if it goes to court will I get a bigger fine but one that I can pay in instalments?

Secondly even to pay now I would need to send my drivers license in to DVLA. I can't find it, and it is going to take several weeks to obtain a new one as I am going to have to first apply for a new copy of my birth certificate. Only then can I apply for a new license, which I can only apply for by the longer postal route.

So am I just going to have to accept being referred to court on this? If so, what is likely to happen?

    Thanks.

bang it on an interest free credit card and pay it off slowly...

    then slow down...

then apply for a new photo card and keep it somewhere you wont lose it, like in your wallet, or with your spare keys, or have it tattooed to your arm like Dave Gorman
