Well.... I finally did it.
I filled the forms in and went to court and made myself bancrupt.
I dont know what I was expecting but I did think I would be hauled over the coals by a judge or at least get a telling off but no. The whole thing was very civilized and straight forward. So now my slate is clean and I can breath out and sleep at night.
Can someone answer a question please ?
At the moment I am unemployed but have been offered a job beginning in February. Do I have to tell the OR or will the Inland revenue inform him ?
I am getting conflicting opnions.
I'm sure the answer is yes tell the OR and pay.
But then I think why should I tell anyone when I could go on benefits. I am 60 years old , very active , have worked all my life and want to work to support myself but whats the point if the OR is going to take it all from me ?
Any advise would be very welcome and thanks to everyone who gives such wonderful advise on here. I couldnt have done what I did without you all.0 -
Hi and welcome to the board. You really should start a new thread with your questions as it can get lost on other threads not connected to your question BUT to answer....
Yes you DO have to inform the OR of any changes to your circumstances within 21 days. When you went BR you signed a legally binding document saying you would.
If you don't then the IR and the OR do talk to each other and if it has been found you have not informed them then they can delay your discharge untill they have investigated and then you may be hammered with a BRO/U plus an IPA for 36 months.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
