JSA payment not gone in, once again!

One again, I've checked my bank account to find that my JSA money has not gone in! :( It always seems to happen whenever I see someone else, when I see my usual advisor, it goes in perfectly fine!! I signed on on Monday, so it definitely should be due today.

I know it's daft, but whenever I see it's not gone in, I panic!

There was one job I got given by my advisor 4 weeks ago but didn't manage to get the application form back to the job centre because I was really badly ill. But I phoned my advisor up on Tuesday (he was the one who gave me the job) and he said that it's no problem, and when I see him for my next sign on in January, he will mark it down as my second sickness period. So, I don't think, or hope it would be because of that.

I dunno whether this would make any difference, but when I signed on on Monday, the guy I saw he couldn't find the book thing that you usually sign your signature on, so I just had to sign on some paper form instead. Could that have made a difference????

I can't help but panic!! I don't even know which person I saw on Monday. The only person I know is the advisor that I see, so would it be best to phone him? I have his direct phone number.

I'm not phoning the payment centre, because the last time I phoned them the woman I got on the phone was really horrible, I ended up in tears and it was the job centre who sorted it out in the end for me. :)

Really praying it's nothing bad. It never has been before, there's always been a simple explanation!

As far as I'm aware, there's no sanctions or anything. Not had any letters about any, and the JSA sign on clerk on Monday never mentioned anything, neither has my New Deal advisor.

Ring your adviser this morning and check that the signature has gone to the right place. Can you describe the person you saw who couldnt find your book? That should be enough :)

Try not to panic, if it has not gone on the right pay run then ask them to issue a giro that you can pick up today.

    Hiya,

No, alls I know is he was an old-ish guy, lol and had brown short hair. But then there's also a few others like that in there! :p Descriptions aren't my strong point! :p

The last person I know to have my sign on book was my adviser, because I saw him the previous fortnight.

My adviser didn't sign me 'cause I see a sign on person one week, then the next fortnight I sign and see my adviser. But he's the one any querys go to with him being my adviser, I think, so he should be able to help, shouldn't he?
  • Also, if there was any sanctions, you would know in advance wouldn't you? The only other thing apart from the guy not being able to find my sign on book, is the job that I didn't manage to take back in due to being ill. But my adviser definitely said on Tuesday, when I phoned up, not to worry because when I see him in January, he will mark it down as a sickness period.

id suggest pesteing them today and tomorrow. with it being christmas most offices are closed nextweek. plus if you dont get any action today any payment wont appear until january if they were able to sort it out.

id suggest getting a crisis loan if this next fortnight is not going to be managable.

then pay back the crisis loan with the back pay in january once it sorted.

on another point. i have heard that there are limits to the JSA sickness allowance. this being the 2nd time your sick, how long were you sick first time. one sign on period (2 weeks) or more?

anyone with info on effects to JSA concerning their 'sick policy' might help the OP understand what MIGHT have occured. as i havnt ever told jc+ i was ever sick to experience the sickness policy in action

the signature bit is a lesser likely cause as -from what i been told - signing on is done on the computer screen where the adviser hits a button to say you attended. the signature is just a second piece of proof you attended(a backup) and more used as a legal declaration that you have not worked in that period, more then signing to receive the benefit
  • Hiya mitch,

The sickness thing won't have effected it. You're allowed two periods of sickness in a rolling year, each one lasting no more than 14 days. The first one I was only ill for 2 days. This one was 8. So I'm alright on that front, and I confirmed it with my adviser.

that good atleast ... a friend of mine said my local JC+ would treat any sickness as a 13 day sickness or zero.

as any job application can be sent at anytime to prospective employers, the only time you can use a sickness excuse to not jobseek is if sick for full period between sign on dates. so i was unsure, but greatful that in your case that is not the reason.

get onto JC+ now and insist action today or no money will be awarded before christmas. if no action happens then tomorrow seek crisis loan if bills are going to be a problem over christmas period.

    hope all goes well
  • Hi everyone,

I managed to get it sorted. I phoned my advisor and told him that no money had gone in. I also mentioned that on Monday the person I saw said that he couldn't find my book that I sign my signature on, so just got me to sign on a piece of paper.

My adviser had someone with him when I phoned, but he phoned me back about 5 minutes later and he said that when he checked my claim on the computer, whoever signed me on Monday hadn't put on the evidence to say that I had signed on.

My adviser filled the evidence in himself and sent an email to the benefit processing centre to ask them to do a fast electronic payment, he put my mobile number on the email so that they could call me back to let me know what's going on and I've just had a call back from them a few minutes ago to say that they have now sent the payment through and it should be in my bank account soon.

So it's just a matter of waiting for it to appear, but at least it's all sorted and it was no biggie! I was panicking!

  • I have ben having the same problem. I have signed on twice, at the time asked each time, and have never been paid until I have phoned the payment line!! each time the advisor who I had signed on with hadn't updated my signing details in the system. The guys at the payment line are very helpful and can provide this info. i spent 20 mins sorting mine out today!!!

you have to phone the payment line, they then tell you what is required, then you phone your sigining office, they action your data, then you phone back the payments line they action an emergancy payment email and take a contact number from you and someone from the payments department phone you to tell you that the money will be in your account by 5pm that day.

It is quite painless butvery frustrating, as I should have been paid last week!!! To be honest in my experience they are very incompetant, the systems don't seem to 'talk' to each other. I have had a problem ( a none existant problem) with my N.I number. and because the system that my signing evidence is actioned on has a reference number instead of N.I number, this doesn't trigger my payment off, so I have to keep checking and ringing, when I have asked about this problem they don't know how to sort it out!!! So its probably a fornightly call I shall be making until I find myself a job!!! the only blessing is that its a free call from a BT landline, but its time taken that I should be looking for a job in!!!!

Rant over!!! but advise that works I do have to warn you that is takes over 5 minutes for them to answer calls on the payment line (maybe if they emplayed more staff to help the growing claiments they wouldn't take so long to answer calls!!)

    Good luck
