  • I know. I wish they would just leave these holes open and not patch them.

I mean such a complex piece of software, how difficult can it be to make it 100% secure from day one and require no additions.

    Damn those monopolistic losers.

I bet Macs don't get updated, ever.

Cos its a constant battle between the OS maker and the hackers. They will always be playing katchup. Even linux sometimes have updates.

Congratulations. I guess those updates are only for security and stability, much of the malware out there attempts to attack vulnerabilities which most people have patched, why would you NOT update?
I can't imagine someone saying " I bought a new car, they discovered that there's a fault in the fuel system, which, in a small number of cases has led to the car exploding, killing all inside. The manufacturer did issue a recall soon as this was discovered, and provided a simple fix, but I feel lucky so I didn't bother with it.
Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.
  • they will never not be able to offer updates that would just be rediculous

with each peice of new hardware added to your machine can require the need for security updates
if you put a ati graphics card with a creative labs sound card might need one update but stick it with a nvida graphics card and you may need another.

they are endless different combinations of pc's and there internal components it would be an impossibility for microsoft to test every configuration and make sure they are secure. Thats where the public come into use each time you use your machine and it crashes and you send the error report you have made life easier for someone else as this alerts them to the need to make an update.

Were you using Windows during the height of the Blaster Worm infections?

  • Even linux sometimes have updates.

Sometimes? It's a near daily occourance for something to be updated with my installation. It's no bad thing though, updates are released for a very good reason so it's imperitive to install them in order for your operating system and software to be as secure as possible.

To not install them is plain moronic.
