That's just the way insurance is, nothing you or I can do about it. I'm 30+ male, 6 years NCD (actually about 10 years ncd but insurer have only took 5 year ncd max) and driving a 1.3 yaris, my insurance is 344 full comp this year, cashback of 43 brings it down to 300. It's about an extra 50-80 compared to my 2 previous years, I dont like it, but nothing I can do.0

An when women the same age as me are getting theirs 25-50% cheaper just because they are a women, it's quite sexist, to say that because I'm a man I'm more risk.
Seriously, its £500 lol, not a fiver, or £50, Five Hundred Pounds, half of £1000, it really isn't cheap at all lol.
I can get your premium for £0 - Dont drive?

Don't worry when your about 55 you will get your own back. Older woman drivers are being quoted more then men the same age (with everything else being equal.)I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Check what mileage you do per year (can be found on MOT certificates) many policies give lower premiums for lower mileage mine is currently limited 8000 leisure miles & 3000 business miles.0

If you are annoyed by that and you really think you are a safer driver then go for one of the telematics products - Coverbox, Ikube etc. Various companies are said to be developing similar products for launch soon.
They which use telematics boxes fitted with accelerometers, GPS, GPRS and linked to the car, to collect data about your driving. Depending on the product your premiums can benifit from good driving - sometimes as you go, sometimes at each renewal. As the technology is developing people are finding new ways to use the data to price individual risks - so not just things like how much you drive, but where, when and how.
Or/and you could go and get an advance drivers qualificiation which often attracts a discount.0
