MissD - You're right, nobody I know with bipolar would dream of being so nasty. My friends have had difficult childhoods, involving sexual abuse and are some of the kindest people I've ever met and would never dream of calling anyone involved in sexual crime 'a sl*t'. I suffer from anxiety and depression myself and would never insult somebody with a mental illness. The comment was meant to refer to your posts being somewhat erratic and of polar extremes in opinion and content.
I have joined a union, called EHRC, called an employment solicitor and I am formulating my appeal. Everybody has been really helpful, particularly the union and the EHRC. I am writing my appeal.

Depending on which Union it is that you are in - they might also have a specific Womens Officer (ie at national level) and, if so, she would be likely to "go for the man like a terrier after a rabbit".
Appalling!
Had I said "they might also have a specific Mens Officer (ie at national level) and, if so, he would be likely to "go for the woman like a terrier after a rabbit" You would be up in arms!

Gwen
Please don't be alarmed at what I'm going to suggest but have you thought about carrying an attack alarm with you?
I doubt very much that he will try anything as stupid as this (especially when he's trying to clear his name and blacken yours) but I always erred on the side of caution.
If (and I hope that this really isn't the case) that you have to work with the slimeball I would make a point of carrying it with me during the day - that way if he does try anything on you can just activiate it.2014 Target;

Because you always read in newspapers stories of female flashers and sex abusers?
The fact is, the vast majority of these crimes are committed by men against women. Without being alarmist, this kind of behaviour can escalate to more serious crimes being committed.
In my opinion, the OP has done entirely the right thing in reporting this not only for what has been done to her but also in protecting other women in the future.
Unfortunately for the OP, there may be a whole world of difference between what is right and what happens. Sadly, even in this day and age, women have an incredibly difficult struggle in getting people to believe them (just look at some of the moronic posts on this thread from both men and women).
Just for the record, I am a man, & I do not doubt the accuracy or integrity of the OP.0 -

Not helped by the small but significant number of unfounded allegations often far more serious than this.bluetownbarry wrote: »Just for the record, I am a man, & I do not doubt the accuracy or integrity of the OP.
So am I and, as I said earlier, I have no reason to doubt "the accuracy or integrity of the OP" either.
That said, we have heard only one side of the story and the OP has stated that no one else witnessed (or is prepared to admit witnessing) the alleged behaviour.
Unless that changes this really is at the end of the road.
That is not right or wrong - just realistic!0 -
Wow. Don't think I have ever put so many people of my ignore list after reading a thread. Anyways....
Well done Gwen! Glad you are getting some professional support. You may well find that the company has not dealt with it in the correct manner either - obviously you are not able to give us full details on here, but some of what we have heard sounds a bit fishy (his friends managing the case, giving you each a copy of the other's statement, his interview transcript/notes not complete), and they may be liable to some respect. They have very strict guidelines that they must adhere to in these cases.Anna :beer:0 -

I wonder if I'm on your ignore list? If so, you won't see this.....
This highlights the problem with ANY internal disciplinary or grievance hearing. It is often next to impossible to find ANYBODY impartial. Even if they have no knowledge of the "accused" they are still on the side of the company as that is who's paying their wages.
There is a great danger in thinking that a person is only impartial if they come up with the verdict you want.
Again, just realistic!0 -
Gwen I'm pleased to read that you are taking steps to obtain legal advice and representation (if needed).
Given that, you may wish to give consideration to asking the Board Guides to lock and delete this thread to thus removing from the public domain all the posts you've made giving details and your feelings, thoughts and opinion. HTH.....................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I was also going to say, if you feel anyone at work is vicitimising you for making the complaint, write down a diary of what happens - you could also have a claim for unlawful victimisation.
I am still scratching my chin at the way your HR have dealt with it, especially with him being a manager (and I am presuming from your previous posts he is higher up than you, although you are not in the same dept, although correct me if I am wrong), as they seem to be laying themselves open to a tribunal claim. Even if the exposure cannot be proven on the balance of probabilities, the emails sound pretty incriminating.Anna :beer:0
