Thank god a child didn't eat it, imagine what could've happened....

Don't think a child would have eaten liver... plastic would be tastier!
  • They replaced the faulty article and gave you compo to the same value to ensure your return, and apologised! I think that's pretty spot on.
I agree. I can't see what else they could have reasonably done.

Aye but your attitude has already cost this country milions of pounds.
It hasn't really, though. The current (and indeed, long established) principle at law is that damages in tort should put the person affected back in the position they would have been had the tort not occurred. In other words, compensation covers loss. That underpins not only personal injury litigation, but also other areas as well. Zandoni appears to be arguing for compensation over and above strict loss, which is an attitude that has not yet been adopted in litigation.

I didnt even expect them to give me a voucher. Juz I wanted to let them know that they should be more careful on preparation.
But I expected an exchange to be honest and I got it. I didnt ask more. So the voucher was a bonus for me. :)

Depends what the 'piece of plastic' was. You might have lucked in! What if it had been a small replica Stormtrooper from the original Star Wars (Episode 4: A New Hope)? Cool!

If I was eating a meal in a restaurant and found a piece of plastic in it I would certainly question the hygiene of the establishment. Being a fussy person and one who doesn't eat any rubbish I would certainly complain and expect not to pay the bill.

If Rolls Royce makes a faulty engine and it causes a plane crash I certainly would expect compensation for all the families affected.

I wouldn't like to go down the USA route, but I do feel that compensation is a good tool to ensure the quality of products and services.

The difference is that in the US, medical bills etc are out of pocket expenses so even an accident can cost the victim money. In the UK, where even when an injury occurs, it often results in minimal or no cost to the victim, such a system should not be necessary. Compensation is not really supposed to be a windfall for incidents like this where no injury has occurred and the 'victim' has not suffered any loss beyond their appetite.

I ordered a plate of Liver & Portugese roll today in nandos, milton keynes. And found a piece of plastic while I had it!! I called the waitress n showed her. She inturn informed her manager who came and apologized. She was ready to give me another plate of Liver & Portugese roll and also offered a voucher for the same which I can use it till Feb '11.

But is that what I should've accepted?? Or wat should I do if I face the same situation again???

How can you compare a piece of plastic in food to a plane crash? LOL

Because the principles are exactly the same. Quantum is massively different.

If OP is that bothered, let the authorities know in addition to the voucher and money back. If the authroities deem it neccesary they will inspect the store. Possibly it isn't the first time it has been reported.
