Nectar - Such an Inconvenience

  • I find it very hit and miss with Amazon.

I've queried a whole lot of points not being credited, and they just told me I obviously didn't click through Nectar, which I knew I had - I coudn't see what I could do about it, as the transactions were over a month old, and I had no proof, so I never assume I'll get them.

It is annoying though :( - I use the site a lot, sometimes for quite big purchases, and it's infuriating when they don't get credited

Did you all realise that BP only give 1 point per litre?

I think on the whole Nectar is only worth doing when there is no other reward scheme available, as the rewards are very low.

I try and buy all my petrol at Tesco, but my husband often ends up going to a BP garage as he drives a lot, and never fills up in advance, so I've given him my Nectar card as well as one of the key fobs of my Clubcard, so we're covered in all eventualities (as long as he remembers :D!)
  • same here. Had to chase up Amazon points last month...interestingly though since my complaint, these are now showing up on my online nectar statment.
  • If it is the one I am thinking about, it is a pre-payment card so you have to factor in if the discount you get in some stores is worth having your money tied up.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

The card can be used for groceries, clothes, furnishings, cosmetics - and even petrol [with conditions of a £50 purchase of groceries in the participating Store] - apart from the lower Utilities

so whats the name of this card

Yeah I've never got my points from Amazon, even going via Nectar site then Amazon. Can't be bothered to chase up. Never had a problem with cashback sites though so I know cookies, Javascript etc. aren't the problem.

I have a sneaking suspicion it's because they can track what you buy online much more easily compared to buying in store. In store they want to know what you're buying so they can send you offers, coupons, upsell etc., which is why it's important to them to make it easy to use your Nectar card.

So am not the only one that has had this problem
I did notice I purchased an ipod £158 but the point where never
put on to my Amazon account yet I used the links

Thank you, you've made me realise that I've never got points from my Amazon shopping in over 18 months. My project for the next month is to see how many points I can "claw back".

(Silly me, I keep tight rein over my quidco and tesco points, don't know what's gone wrong with Nectar).

I've just had to contact Nectar again because I have hardly had any points from Amazon for a few months, including none of the money I spent before Christmas .

Last time they just told me I obviously hadn't gone through their site, when I knew I had, so ever since, I make a point of looking at my statement on the Nectar site before clicking through to Amazon, so I have to actually put my password in (even though my name and points balance shows when I go onto Nectar anyway, and that was enough most of the time)

It takes a lot longer to do it that way, and I'm going to be soo annoyed if I end up not getting most of my points anyway  :(
  • I've not had one transaction that's gone through successfully yet and I've tried the latest versions of both IE & Firefox browsers and bought stuff from Amazon & Pixmania. I've had a struggle on more than one occasion to get my points added and I'm sure I'm missing many of them still. I've now started taking screen captures of every stage of the process to prove that I'm doing things exactly as requested just in case Nectar get arsey with me again and claim I must be doing something wrong. Also, the value of the items bought seems not to match the cost shown on the Nectar site when the points are awarded.
It wouldn't surprise me that thousands of transactions are going missing every day and that a high percentage of these are going unnoticed by consumers. It's a poor system - maybe the partner stores ought to take your Nectar card number at the checkout. And as for the feeble 'at least 28 days after delivery' requirement there's simply no justification for it - how come my Homebase & Sainsburys transactions for similar items are immediate and I don't have to wait a month for the points? I smell a rat.
