I hope I get my dispatch notice. I had nothing but trouble with other items I was trying to order. Have spent most of the day on to Customer Services and they can't place a manual order until it is fixed. I received a confirmation, so I should be alright shouldn't I?
  • Ordered two online this morning - one for me and one for a prezzie but tonight I found it really annoying that Boots are advertising this offer on prime time TV (here come the girls....) I wouldn't even mind that so much, but plastered all over the ad in huge letters is the £25 price (unusual for an ad to show a price and especially thoughtless for something being marketed as a Christmas gift) so whoever you give it to will know exactly how much you paid and and it would make me look like some kind of cheapskate (ok, I am but it's up to me to let on, not Boots!)
So because of this silly advert, when I go and collect from the branch on Wednesday I'll just return the one I was going to give as a gift, buy the person something else whose price hasn't been paraded in front of millions of people and keep the other set for myself!

I don't get it - as a recipient I would be chuffed to bits that someone had got me a fantastic gift at a bargain price!

    Gifts aren't about price anyway.
  • Yes, I've made her some presents as well but wanted to get her something nice from a shop to go with them! This lady (a close relative) likes the obscure and the unusual - she always makes a huge effort and delights me with her amazing presents that are always exactly right.
I don't think she'd appreciate something that was seen to be so readily available! Perhaps I'm being too harsh as I personally would be delighted to be at the receiving end of this S&G - in fact I will be, and can't wait for Wednesday when I collect mine. The packaging alone is brilliant and I actually need everything in there.
It's good to hear other people's viewpoints.

But surely unless she keeps track of S&G or offers she might remember it was on offer but not the price or not remember at all? There are loads of Christmas offers at the moment but unless its something I keep an eye on I dont know the price.

Yeh Boots say that its the confirmation email you should watch to make sure you have the product. Though of course it doesnt stop you wanting the reassurance of the dispatch email! I ordered at 3.18am and just got a dispatch email, ordered another early afternoon and got confirmation but no dispatch email as yet. Then Im gonna worry when they get here then that they have everything inside! :rotfl:
  • Look Guys...

This offer is on for a week. Going by the unpleasantness last time, Boots would have ordered enough to cover at least a few days shopping.
If the guy who manages stock hasn't ordered enough for at least 3 days, I'd sack him/her.
Boots are in this business to make profit. No stock = no profit, i.e. a waste of time. If it's a loss leader (which I doubt, just seriously overpriced in the first place) again, no stock=no footfalls=sacked stock manager.

You can't make a profit on whipped-up hysteria if you have no stock!

I'd bet on there being stock at least somewhere in the UK on Friday.

So remember 'Keep Calm & Carry on......' or just take a chill pill. After all, it's only a bag of stuff...

You have a basic lack of comprehension of how some companies do things and why. If you always have plenty of stock of one off/short term offers, then people won't worry about rushing to get the item because they know they can get it. Invariably they will then forget and not get it anyway. Companies like Netto infuriated me to the extent I now assume they won't have stock and don't bother - a bit of an own goal on their part - as I have called in so many times just 2-3 hours after a store opens on a Thursday or Monday, having seen something I want in their leaflet, to be told 'we only had four in'.... However if I knew there was short supply but a good chance of getting it if I am quick I would be heading back there in the first day.

With the Boots offers like this, they know there is a big interest and big demand. If they have enough to last most of the day but possibly not more than 1 or 2 days, it creates a big demand and lots of publicity and excitement. This thread says it all really. Having enough for nearly the whole week would defeat the point, which is to whip up the hysteria and demand and hype.
If I had a pound for every pound I'd lost, I'd be confused
  • Which town?

    shrewsbury.

The big one in the town centre. They had loads at the entrance, and stacks and stacks of em upstairs.
  • Thanks for that. What time did you go in?
