Emails not sending

We changed broadband suppliers yesterday, all up and running fine.
Today I've tried to send an email and got an Undeliverable message saying 'relaying not allowed'.
any ideas what this means and how to fix? Have been receiving without problem.
Thanks

  • You'll need to change your outgoing mail server. This entirely depends on which mail client (Outlook, thunderbird etc.) you are using and who your new broadband supplier is. If you can supply this info it shoudln't be hard.

you might need to reconfigure the pop3/smtp settings -- available from your new supplier, sometimes on their website too.

Right, have managed to do the gmail and new sky one. Struggling with an old tiscali one.
Have got incoming as pop.tiscali.co.uk, outgoing as imap.tools.sky.com. Have changed advanced settings to 'no secure encryption' and default to 110 (whatever that means).
Is giving error message when I do test of 'unable to send test message, please verify email'

I read in another thread that tiscali emails can only ever be sent through a tiscali connection, whether that is true I dont know, but I do know you no longer have tiscali so you have lost that tiscali email address now (or could be lost at anytime), that is why it is far far better to only use ISP independant email providers such as gmail or hotmail (or your own domain), therefore if you ever change email providers you always keep your email address.

personally I wouldnt use the new sky one you have made set up the contact address as your gmail one and just use the gmail one you have.

Haven't been with tiscali for about 6 years and still been using the address.
I know I should have switched it over, husband reminds me frequently :o

that doesnt make sense, imap is for incoming mail, it should be something like smtp.tiscali.com for outgoing mail (if from a tiscali address)

yeah I would give the same advice, it's dead easy to make a new gmail or hotmail address, and you can even import your mail from the tiscalli email to the new one.

definitley not true, I have a tiscali email address from years ago which I currently receive into my mail client and I use Be broadband.
