Virgin Media call packages are expensive but the line rental isn't too bad. The line rental prices you will see on the website have been adjusted for 20% VAT already.

I don't use Skype but I do use a different VOIP provider on my 20 Mbps VM broadband and it works very well (it would work just fine on 10Mbps too of course).

virgin is ONLY better if you can get their cable service, the ADSL service (none cable) is shocking

best bet would be to check out samknows (broadband checker) and see which cable and LLU services you can get and come back with those details so we can advise further

other than that do you have any idea on what sort of bandwidth you need (try to be realistic as no normal BT wholesale ADSL provider actually provides a fully unlimited service) and also how much you are willing to spend?
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

samknows this is what it says:
However, there is another service on your phone line (e.g. ADSL, LLU, DACS, etc) that would prevent you from ordering a new ADSL connection. The following services are available in your location:
    • BT Wholesale ADSL
    • BT Wholesale ADSL Max
    • BT Wholesale WBC (21CN)
    • BT Wholesale SDSL
    • AOL LLU
    • O2 / Be LLU
    • Bulldog LLU
    • TalkTalk (CPW) LLU
    • Sky Broadband / Easynet LLU
    • Tiscali LLU
    • Tiscali TV (via Tiscali LLU)
    • Orange LLU (Formerly Wanadoo)
    • Virgin Media (Cable)

Please select the options on the left for more information about broadband availability at your location.

I'd assumed that you already knew that you could get cable. If you didn't know then certainly gonzo is right and you shouldn't take their ADSL offering as it is poor.

Failing being able to get cable at your specific house (Sam Knows only covers the area and VM don't of necessity cover all of it) then O2 LLU is shown and is very good. In fact you should consider it even if you can get cable.
  • If you don't need the phone, just get the broadband as a standalone from Virgin Media. The actual broadband price is more without the phone line, but the overall price will be lower.

If you have TV with either Sky or Virgin Media there are some decent deals on bundles at the moment for Phone + Broadband + TV which would be worth looking at.
