new home, tv signal problems

Hi, hope someone can help with my TV signal problems before I go and spend money on getting a technician or engineer out.

I’m in a new home, there is an aerial lead in the living room which I have plugged into my TV and receives a digital signal no problem.

It’s the other main room downstairs (being used as a family room) that is the problem. It has 2 leads coming in through the wall from outside, but neither of them are providing a signal.

There is an aerial on the roof and a satellite dish on the wall at the back of the house. I’m assuming that they had the regular TV aerial in that room first and then got Sky in that room too. I would therefore expect the satellite lead to provide no signal as I don’t have a Sky box. But this doesn’t explain the lack of signal from the other lead. Can anyone offer any insight?

All I really want is a signal that can receive regular freeview. I spoke to a company called Aerial Force and they said they would come out and check all the cables etc for £30 and any new equipment required would be extra. I’d rather not get them out if this is something that I can fix myself with a little bit of advice.

Also, if I do need to get someone out, has anyone heard of Aerial Force, are they reliable?

Any help would be much appreciated.

No !, step away from the phone.
  • We had a signal booster installed in our home, I don't understand the technicalities behind it but basically it was installed by the guy who put the aerial in & it plugs into both the TV & the power supply.

Aerial Force = Aerial Farce, avoid.
  • Yeah thanks, tried a signal booster but still nothing. The thing I don’t understand is how I can get perfect digital TV in one room but not the other.

Because the other room is not connected? those cables could be out going feeds from the Sky box to another room.

Simple job for local RDI or CAI installer, £60ish? hours labour.
