Hotels in Manhattan are very expensive indeed, and ther period you will be there during is Thanksgiving. That makes it worse, expense wise for a hotel. Don't worry overly about safety in Manhattan, I've found it very safe there and the transport/subway links are excellent.

You could try Expedia.com or Opodo.co.uk for a hotel.

Or, you might consider renting an apartment. NY hotels, as well as being expensive, almost always don't provide breakfast. Therefore an aprtment might be both economically more viable and an altogether nocer experience.

Have a look Here at the Vaction Rentals on offer.
  • I cant believe that ....will all the shops etc be shut??

Not at all. There's likely to be parades and stuff in the streets. Should be ok. I'll be there then too.

Me too ! I'll be there snapping up the bargains at Macy's for the thanksgiving day sales - best time to go if you don't mind getting shoved around a bit.

Do a search on this forum for other New York entries, there's one kicking around with hundreds of things to do.

Don't leave the accommo booking too long, it is a very busy time, take what you can find so you're not left with nothing.

    Have fun :)

If you go to Macys do go to their Customer Service dept, take your passport with you and they will issue you with a card entitling you to get discount, I think it's 11% of most things, even sales stuff. This is only for non USA residents, hence the need to take your passport.
  • Oh i am so pleased!!!!!!! Any ideas for accomodation?? I am traveling solo and would like something nice but not ott on the $$$. I am so pleased about the parade.

I lost our baby at 21 weeks just under 2 weeks ago and i have had a very difficult pregnancy and i am using this as a way of treating myself and getting out and very much about where NO one knows me....

    Any tips would be great!!!

I'd recommend doing a search on venere.com - really helpful website with lots of good maps/reviews, and reasonable prices too (which you also don't have to pay in advance)
Plus for 4% off, use code: BK5HX8W

    Hope that helps

    Hi
Sorry for your troubles Hope the trip cheers you up. My daughter and friend are going just before you and I booked them into the Belleclaire Hotel which is reasonably priced and is in the theatre area. It is on all the websited such as Expedia and Opodo but I booked direct with the hotel. I will e-mail my son who is working in New York for 3 months for more ideas for you.
  • Thanks!!!
