Hi Shocking-pink - if you type AA Chief Executive or Centrica Chief executive (as they own AA)into Google, something will come up and you could send your letter there.
Also another little tip - put watchdog by all means but if you have a national news paper handy put CC: (journalists name) and (newspaper)
You might not have any intention of contacting the journo but believe me it works....(Ps done this with BT and at the moment Orange - big result with Bt and awaiting the response from the `big man' at Orange.....
Please let me know how you get on
    Love sas x
Centrica no longer own the AA. They sold it off over a year ago

    Hi, I used to work in an AA call centre. The "system" that they use is actually quite good as long as the information that is put into it by the call handler is correct in the first place. If you havnt already posted your letter I would suggest that the main points you should highlight are ;

    1. There is absolutley no excuse for them not keeping you informed of the eta for the recovery driver as they had your mobile number and could have either called or texted you
    2. Why couldnt the recovery driver find you when you had already had one driver get to you with apparently no trouble. They are quite capable of speaking to each other.
    3. Why did they send the incorrect vehicle to recover you?
    4. Why have they not responded to your 2 phone calls complaining about the service you received?

I wouldnt recommend sending your letter to the chief exec as this will only be opened by his secretary and then forwarded via internal post to the complaints dept. This would add a further delay and open up the possibility of your letter getting lost in the internal post as well as Royal mail.

Had a breakdown on the M4 a few years ago.

Told the AA the two towns we were between and that we had a caravan on the car. When I rang back over an hour later to see where they were. They told me they had been out but could not find me.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • I remember breaking down and after calling the RAC, they wanted me, as a single lady, to get out of the safety of my car in a strange location and ask anyone, exactly where i was, road name etc

I told them that if they couldnt find the only car park with the town hall of the very small town i had broken down in then what was i paying them money for
See the stars they’re shining bright
    Everything’s alright tonight

hi sorry to hear your truoble. in sept the family and i were driving down from scotland on the m6 when at 70 mph she hit a peice of wood ,the car a merc may i add was brilliant.she didnt lose control thank god or all five would be uo above.but we suffered tow blowots on the front o/s and rear o/s .
she managed to pull over we called the aa at 5.00 and advised of the situation.they sent a patrol out .he arrived at 5.45 he changed the spare and advised it would be better if we crawled on the hard shoulder for 3 miles to reach the motor way services. as it was cold and three young kids hungry i agreed.but we only got a mile down.as the tyre was totally gone ripped to shredds.thea guy called the centre advised that we would need a flatbed as it was a automatic..the patrrolman advised the flatbed would arrive at 6.30/6.40 and would then take us back home.
the flat bed arrived at 6.45 (quite inpressive i thought) but here is the twist.
the driver took us to a side road and dumped us in a car park near a pub..he then advised that he would leave us hereas his shift finished and he was not going to take us all the way home as promised.
wow wonderful.kids starving no shops .i told him that at least he should take us to the motorway services he refused.
we had to wait for an hour and half before another flatbed arrived and took us home .it took 31/2 hrs .
well this year the aa can get stuffed as soona smy renewlas premium comes up will be going to somebody else they lost out on hte home insurance./car insurance and the aa relay.

A couple of years ago, A mate and i flew from Belfast to Worthing to buy a car, on the way back we crashed somewhere near Norwich. I phone the AA thinking i was covered (later found out it only my car not me covered) I gave the AA bloke as much info as i could (Garage on the A- something approx x miles from somewhere) from the sign we narrowly missed just after knocking down a lamp post. Dave, the AA man, was on site in an hour and when we explained we had a ferry booked for the next day from Cairnryan, arranged to deliver us right back to the harbour. He noticed that the car we were driving wasn't the car that was supposed to be on the cover but told us not to say anything and he'd look after us. He was such good crack on the drive up to hand over to a contractor at Newark for the second leg of the journey we invited him over for the weekend, he tried to get his control to let him take us back to belfast so he could join us for a night on the town :) but they wouldn't let him :( They relayed us overnight back to the ferry, rang several times to check everything was ok and gave us the number for the Local end of the relay so we could ring him as the boat came in and arrange the pick up. Great service and the bill we expected for the relay (£1000 plus as accidents apparently aren't covered) never arrived :)
  • Just an update. Finally got a response yesterday after an email was deleted without being read and 2 written complaints.

6 months free membership (great! ) and a 30 quid goodwill gesture. They've taken on board all my comments and apologise for ignoring me...
