You really have to ask - kids running around with slippers on that are too big have to potential to go tripping down a flight of stairs!

  • I think you should ask what size as the size of children's feet do vary greatly. My DD1 is eight and is an adult size 4/5, she is very tall for her age, whereas DD2 is five in a couple of days and takes a size 10/11. I don't think DD2 is that tall and she has been this shoe size for ages! I think she must be due a growth spurt soon. I agree with the other posters when they say to try and sneakily ask the little girl!

I agree with everyone else - you need to ask either GD or her mum, or sneak a look at her shoes. It will be really disappointing for her if she can't wear them on the day coz they're too big/small and big slippers are really dangerous as a tripping hazard.

can't you buy a size 13-1 and pop the receipt in with a note saying "hope these are the right size, but please feel free to change for the next size if necessary"

I want to get my goddaughter some Hello Kitty slippers for Christmas, but was just wondering what size I should get for a child who's nearly 7? She's not tall for her age, but she's the taller end of average.

I could just ask her mum, but I wanted to surprise her, too, as she's been eyeing up the slippers for a while but can't afford them - and she dropped a hint that my GD would like them!

Obviously I wouldn't dream of buying shoes for her without getting them fitted. But the slippers aren't 'structured' slippers, they're loose and fluffy, so I won't be ruining her feet if they're a size too big. I just don't want to get ones that are too small!

Would a size 13-1 sound about right for her age, or should I go for 2-3?

Thanks and cyber-cookies (calorie-free) to anyone who has kids this age and can tell me. :)

you don't have to give the game away or spoil the surprise - you could ask your GD's mum what size she is in shoes and clothes - that way she won't know what you're thinking of getting your GD for her Christmas ;).

Some shops will allow later returns due to Christmas, I think. I remember Next doing that last year.

Thanks everyone, I guess the consensus is that it's too hard to tell, and I need to actually find out!

I'll pop over in the week and sneak a look at her shoes. ;)
