Shoe size for 7 year old girl

I want to get my goddaughter some Hello Kitty slippers for Christmas, but was just wondering what size I should get for a child who's nearly 7? She's not tall for her age, but she's the taller end of average.
I could just ask her mum, but I wanted to surprise her, too, as she's been eyeing up the slippers for a while but can't afford them - and she dropped a hint that my GD would like them!
Obviously I wouldn't dream of buying shoes for her without getting them fitted. But the slippers aren't 'structured' slippers, they're loose and fluffy, so I won't be ruining her feet if they're a size too big. I just don't want to get ones that are too small!
Would a size 13-1 sound about right for her age, or should I go for 2-3?
Thanks and cyber-cookies (calorie-free) to anyone who has kids this age and can tell me.

' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

Sorry, but that is impossible to say. The only thing I can think of is to say something like, 'wow your feet have really grown! You must be at least a size 100 now!' and see what your niece says in response.
PS I would have thought that the 2-3 would be better.0 -
Dd is 6 weeks off 7 and a size 12. Her brother is almost 11 and a size 3. We are not big boned people.
I think slippers that don't fit properly are not that safe, especially when you have sleepy kids in them, coming down the stairs. I'd subtley try and find out the size too. Any chance you can see her before and try and have a look at one of her shoes?0 -
my DD is 6 and a size 10.5 and is tall so id say a size 12Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!0 -
you cant guess the shoe size you will have to ask, my daughter is 7 in 15 days and takes a 12 but my friends daughter is 5 and is also a 12. i usually try and take a sneaky look at sons girlfiends (if they have a new one) shoes if they take them off so i know what size slippers to buy for christmas.0

i think the best thing to do is just to ask her mother what her shoe size is0

My ds is 7 and is a size 3.
I would second asking the child in a roundabout way as they will more than likely know and be able to tell youGive me the boy until he's seven and i'll give you the man.0 -

If she is dropping hints she is hoping you will get them so no surprise there, better to ask and get the right size. Too small and it is disappointment on the day, too large and by the time they fit your goddaughter may want something else.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
My daughter is 7 and she is a size 10

My dd is 9 and takes a 12. She was a size 8 at 7.0

My 7 year old step daughter is a size 13 going into a size 1. So I think a 13-1 would be ideal.
My neice is 8 and only a size 10, but she is small for her age in height and build0
