I never shred my bills!!! Crikey - I file them!!!
Had a problem with someone a year or so down the line and I was able to put my hands on the biill and show them to sort it out!! I get rid of them once they're about 7 years old and get the kids to help cut them up with their pretty pinking shears and craft scissors - lol.Noli nothis permittere te terere

With the animals sometimes the ink can be harmful aswell, I asked about this at a local animal rescue centre when they advertised needing bedding materials and she said can cause cuts and also the ink can be toxicOne day I might be more organised...........

Could it be your local authority recycling department looking through your bins?
Our local authority caused uproar when they decended on a residential road on the morning of their bin collection and analysed the contents of each bin to determine how much recyclable waste was destined for landfil. Residents were very upset that sensitive information was viewed by council employees.
It may be worth contacting your recycling dept to see if it was them...It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.0 -

If you don't have much sensitive post, you can always cut it up with scissors. REmember the only bit which needs to be 'shredded' is the address and any personal details - rip off all the plain white borders first. I often do this just to save walking downstairs to the shredder!

I cut it into little tiny weeny squares!!!Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
It composts fine. Before we had a shredder we used to do this.0

I've been thinking of getting one for a while - bf used to take our stuff into work and do it there but he's changed jobs now.
The WHSmith's one does look pretty good:

(I like that it does cards too :T ) - does anyone know of any of similar quality that's on offer anywhere at the moment?0
