Help with digital photo frame please!

I have bought my Dad a digital photo frame for Christmas and I want to upload photos of my two boys onto an sd card. My Dad has been told that he has got final stage renal failure and he has to have dialysis. He will be having the treatment at home and I thought it would be a nice idea for him to see pictures of my boys on a slide show while he is having his treatment to cheer him up. However when I put the SD card into the slot on the desktop computer nothing happens. Should it ? I have no idea now of what to do, could anyone please give me some instructions? Many thanks in advance.

  • I am assuming you are using Windows

    Go to "My Computer"

There should be a new icon perhaps with a useful name like "SD Card" or maybe just D:\ or E:\

This will be the SD card.

Just copy and paste your photos onto there

If that doesn't work we'll try something else.

    What is there?
    I would expect to see:
    1. C:\ - which is your hard drive
    2. D:\ - which is your CD drive (if you have one)
Can you give more info about your computer?

Ok, it is possible that your computer is trying to map your SD card to a drive letter that is already used up.

    1) Pop the SD card in (if not already)
    2) Click Start, click Run, type compmgmt.msc, and then click OK.
    3) In the tree on the left hand side go to "Disk Management"
    4) On the right hand side you should be able to locate the disk which relates to your SD card. It should be the one without a letter at the end of its name. Do not change any other.
    5) Right click over that entry
    6) Select "Change drive letter and paths"
    7) Choose a letter that is not already used (e.g. M or Z)
    8) It should then appear in My Computer mapper to the drive letter you selected.

The only one without a letter is disk o, basic, 149.05 gb., online. Is this the correct one?

    Thank you for your reply

No - That would be your entire hard drive.

Unfortunately I'm at the end of my ideas without actully seeing the computer. I hope someone else pops along soon to help you.

    Sorry.

The EFGHI drives, I think, are all the slots in your card reader, which I assume is part of your computer.

Double-click each of them until you find the one with the card (when you have the card inserted in the reader, of course).

When I click on them it states to put a disc in the drive.
