We had a lovely professional photoshoot done at home when DS2 was 10days old and it was lovely. It's amazing how a bit of slap hides any dark shadows and a good photographer won't be shooting your flabby bits! I really like looking at the photos which were taken of us all now and seeing how much he has changed already. The photo in my avvie was one of those taken at the time.

With DS1 and DD we had family photos taken while still in hospital after the birth, and they are lovely too. No reason at all to avoid photos at this time IMHO

I would just go to the local park and have a wander round, then back home for lots of naps :)

Why not just go to a nice cafe for a cup of tea and cake? if you have a bit of a drive to get there, the baby will probably sleep the whole time. Maybe just have a shorter walk instead.

I think at 12 days I would've liked to snuggle up at home together, no visitors, lovely dinner cooked, small glass of wine and a good film. Maybe a nice warm bath too.

Thanks again for all the advice. The day turned out to be a combination of the above!

We decided against going for a pub lunch, as all the pub's seemed to be heaving with Christmas do's. Figured a busy, slow, heaving pub wouldn't be that much of a treat.

Ended up having a quick, easy lunch at Maccy D's (DWs choice, not mine - though it served a purpose!), then for a nice walk in a park, finishing with a hot chocolate in the park cafe.

Came home, cooked DW tea, and she's just been for an hours nap whilst I had the baby.

    Thanks again everyone :)
  • Gosh, you are so nice. For the first couple of weeks my hubby had baby in the evenings while I got a couple of hours sleep in. It really helped.

Take her out for lunch in a family-friendly place, then take the baby off by yourself for a few hours while wifey gets a well-deserved sleep.

    Good idea :)

Had a bad night last night, so both feeling tired. May take the baby out for a walk this aft to let DW catch up on some sleep.
  • I have nothing to add to this thread except that I think you're lovely Jonny!!!
