how about a day spa? treat your wife to some pampering whilst you look after the baby.0

I would just go to the local park and have a wander round, then back home for lots of naps

I was out and about when DS was 5 days old, but due to my stitches, walking became painful after about 15 minutes, particularly if it was cold, as my stitches started to throb!
I got taken for a nice meal. I fed DS before we left, the drive there sent him to sleep, and he stayed asleep until we got home and was ready to be fed again!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
What a sweet and lovely idea!
How about afternoon tea?
She probably is still feeling like a beanbag thats only lost half it's stuffing at the moment, but how about treating her to shoe shopping? (I like shoe shopping when I'm feeling tubby!)
Any winter wonderlands near by?
I think at 12 days I would've liked to snuggle up at home together, no visitors, lovely dinner cooked, small glass of wine and a good film. Maybe a nice warm bath too.Back on the MFW Wagon!

Thanks for the ideas. The lake does look lovely, but DW has just said 1 hour may be too long. She does want a day out however!!!!
The though of lunch out fills me with dread. No sure why - maybe it's because DD has habit of waking / crying whenever we're about to eat!!!
Why not just go to a nice cafe for a cup of tea and cake? if you have a bit of a drive to get there, the baby will probably sleep the whole time. Maybe just have a shorter walk instead.0 -
12 days post birth, my idea of heaven would have been my favourite takeaway delivered, and curling up on the sofa with my DH and DD - I had a c-section so I wasn't up to leaving the house at stage.Proud to be dealing with my debts
DD Katie born April 2007!

As everyone else has said energy is very low.
It was a month in when we went out. We visited a stately home, (baby in a sling) had a wander around and then a lovely lunch and home again.
I would say as others have done, to wait until baby has been fed and then wizz out to your nicest informal eaterie, and make sure the wait time is minimal (even a nice cafe with the food out to choose!)
Then bring her home and let her rest and do the ironing for her and cook her a nice meal for the evening!
Also, maybe while she is having a sleep you could pop out and buy her an eternity ring. My one frustration with my DH he never gives lovely jewellery, and I have always hankered after an eternity ring!0
