Should i be worried? (Meteor/Roxburghe)

Hi All.
Im new here, just registered. I recently parked in a Private Car park and forgot to pay, there were no signs of penalty warnings on entry to the car park.
There are howerver two small signs 50ft into the car park just saying "pay and display"
I came back to my car and found i had a "fine" from Meteor on it.
I have read the forums a little and the consensus is that i ignore the letters.
My last letter was from a firm called Roxburghe saying that if i dont pay up in 7 days then legal action may be taken.
Should i be worried.
....im not overly worried about the potential outcome of this for me, but this has recently happened to my girlfriend and she has had the same letters threatening the same thing.
What action should we take?
I really appreciate your help.

All 'fines' from private parking contractors (PPCs) are NOT legally enforeceable and can be safely ignored. Put the money to better use. Ignore the silly threatening letters and phone calls. They are merely bluster and designed to frighten you. If they had a leg to stand on, you would be taken to court, instead you get toothless threats. Tell everybody that PPC 'fines' are meaningless and get payback!Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0

Read the stickies at the top of the forum, showing the threatograms from debt collectors that you both just need to ignore because the whole generic parking industry are cowboys. You will see the Roxburghe and Graham White letter-chain is very common and all the letters are shown in pictures on the thread by Crabman. You can just play 'snap' by referring back to that thread as each one arrives, and the 'Final' Final warning is the last (Graham White letter-heading but this is just the next desk along in Roxburghe office, using a scary name to try to make people fold!).
The top stickies also include a link to Watchdog this year, with a solicitor showing Anne Robinson how to make a paper aeroplane from a PPC bogus PCN (for it is bogus).
Here's the current board with stickies at the top plus LOADS of threads just like yours:

Don't worry about it, join the club and ignore a PPC for Christmas. Nothing will happen at all to either of you, no effect on your credit ratings at all. No need to buy a new suit for that day in Court because it's simply not part of the Meteor/Roxburghe/Graham White standard letter-chain.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you both so much for taking the time to reply.
I thought as much but there was a little bit of doubt in mind as to what to do. I guess im going to have to stick to my guns and just file them away.
Right, better go convince the girlfriend to file them away too
Really appreciate your help.

Tell her you will spend the money on her I bet that brings her round to our approach.;)0 -
Good for you for not being taken in by the silly threats. Please spread the word and soon the practice of charging people silly money for breaking daft rules will no longer become viable. Put the money saved into the Christmas fund and have a good one!Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0

You should be really really worried, about getting some lovely nasty letters asking you to pay ever increasing sums of money. All of which can be safety ignored. So don't worry, be happy, buy a nice Christmas present.0

They should be called comet parking, as they only take people to court once every 70 odd years like haley's
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0
