One area in which I have not been particularily economical is with my choice of broadband provider. I currently pay PIPEX £19.99 a month for unlimited 2mb access. Since my use rarely exceeds a 2 Gb/month I was thinking of changing to the £19.00 8mB Anytime package which includes free local and national calls (and presumably the line rental?)

In fact I recently changed my telephone provider to Homecall which costs £9.99 and is now incidentally run by Pipex, so it seems my total saving would be in the region of £11 since the cost of calls (excluding 084/087 numbers) is insignificant.
Problem is every time I have changed my Internet provider it has caused me so much hassle. On one occasion I had to get someone far more knowledgable in to solve the problem which could not be resolved over the phone. My current Modem is the Alcatel Speed touch 'Frog'. Would I need to install new software and hardware to change? If so it may not be a happy experience, is it worth it?
There is an upgrade page for PIPEX but is seems to be constantly stuck with this message

To top it all I have been far than pleased with Pipex over the years although the number of line drops has diminished.
