Hey all,
Am still reading but not paying anything at the moment; all our spare cash is going towards Lapland. Should have everything we need by the end of this montha dn then I'll be back to overpayments. Well done all! Halfway through October already!

Well I have done some, shall we say "creative accounting" and sent pretty much every spare penny I have for the last two weeks of the month to my credit card - my outstanding debt is now £995!!! THREE DIGITS!!!
:D:D:D:D I can't even remember it EVER being that much so I'm really happy - even if I'll be living off SmartPrice 9p noodles for a fortnight!! :rotfl:

Hi everyone
Popping on to say i am reading the thread when i can but am just in no position to make any overpayments right now. Reason being the boiler *needs* replacing and i am getting every spare penny together that i can for thatThe other reason is me and my man are off on holiday
i know some people have mixed views on holidays when in debt but the debt is mine and not OH's. Also the balance of the holiday has been paid in full from the money we saved up together for it :T:T:T - i cannot tell you how pleased i was about that and would put a cartwheeling smiley in if i could :j:j:j We have also saved a fair bit for spends and i have just a little bit more to find.
Yes i would prefer to use the additional £200 or so that i need to find to reduce the balances on my bills but i am hoping to bring some of the money back with meThis has also given me the motivation that i need to get as much clutter together as i can to sell on e-b*y (already done my carboot) and i hope to be back with overpayments later in the month

I feel the same about holidays dedicatedDFW. There are some who are brilliant at putting off these things for years and paying off in superquick time, but I prefer not to wear too much of a hair shirt about it all - still want a life!
Having said that I've just had to do another balance transfer - had hoped I'd seen the last of those! Half my barclacycard was about to go on to some silly APR from 0% so have moved £1000 from it on to Virgin. ARGH! Virgin again.
Never mind. We are always spending on travel which I think builds amazing memories and experiences - we've never been big spenders on 'things'. Roll on Lapland!0 -
Sarahs999 - I wish I was a bigger spender on doing things rather than having things - there are loads of places I'd love to go and have never been, yet I have a house that is full of stuff I don't want/use/need!! I'm definitely planning a weekend away when I'm debt-free to somewhere nice with my OH and pay for it before I go with my own money!!0

Ruby - plan it now! It's always great to have something to save for/look forward to. Particularly as winter approaches. I like to work out the whole cost and then just put bits and pieces away now and again. Where would you most like to go?0

Well we're getting married next October in Las Vegas, then having our honeymoon in San Diego and going to Disneyland (which will be entirely paid for by my Mum with money from my Dad passing away last year so yay but boo!), so somewhere a bit closer to home!! We have both been talking about going to Amsterdam for AGES and keep planning trips but then something comes up money wise so I think a weekend there would be lovely. You can fly from Leeds-Bradford to get there (and I can get there on the bus!!) so I think that will be my goal for early next year
Think I'll have another look at hotels and things this weekend now...

I agree with Sarahs999 and Dedicated DW. You need a holiday, something to look forward to and have memories of. So long as it doesn't add to my debt then I don't have a problem with it.
I have made an overpayment but need to work out how much it was. As I paid it with the minimum payment and I don't count them towards this challenge.Pay as much as you can in 2011- £3688.54/£6000Pay as much as you can in 2012 - £3190.96/£6000LBM - August 2010 - £19202.30Current - August 2012 - £11803.68Paid so far - £7398.620 -
