OK, so last night we sat down to book our lapland trip and the dates we wanted (the cheapest) have all gone. They were still there a week ago! So it's kind of thrown us. The next date is about £200 more, but DH has now cooled on the whole idea. He's gone back and forth on this idea like a bee on steroids. Now I can't decide what we should do. THe sensible part of me says, put the money we've saved for it towards debts instead. We could goo next year. But the problem with that is that we're trying for a baby, and if we have a small baby next year we won't go for obvious reasons. Because of the temperature we can't go until the baby is about 5 years old, by which time DS will not believe in Father C any more. Also if I DO have a baby next year, even if we leave him/her with inlaws for a couple of days, I will be maternity leave and not have the money to spend.

SO it kind of feels like now or never.

I realise this is probably very dull for everyone else, so apologies!

We went to Lapland a few years ago, OH, me and 2 other friends and apart from being f-ing cold I think a kid would have -loved- it, especially seeing santa :T There were husky rides, raindeer rides, ice fishing, and.... whatever those things are called that are like jet-skis for snow :rotfl: It was all pretty awesome so I'm sure you'd have fun.

Having said that I think I think LO would be just as happy going somewhere like Disneyland Paris or something if thats any cheaper? I'm guessing they'll have santa too.

I bet you know in your heart of hearts what you want to do :)

  • Hi all,

I have paid off £67.00 bringing my total to £3948.00/£5251.00.

Seem to be working non stop at the moment trying to get rid of this last bit - as I suspect everyone is! But then the collective £500k proves that! lol.

Hope to add more before end of month, but well done everyone!

I caved. Just booked the deal (though a slightly cheaper one I found through masses of searching).

We've already got two thirds of the money saved for it, so just need to throw all our extra cash at it for the next month or two and it hopefully won't make our debt go up.

Cited now! Lapland! Reindeer! Snow! whoop.

    :male:Hi everyone

    I hope you're all well.

Apologies but I did not update my total for September, because I was in hospital having my baby!!!:male:

Anyway, I paid the usual £535 plus a few extras, which I haven't added to the total. I think my intial target of £8,000 may have been a little optimistic because I set it before I found out about being pregnant, and the maternity pay I receive is less that my regular outgoings! Oh well, i will have to see how I get on.

I did commit a crime of false economy by paying off one debt on my credit card. Overall I know this won't settle the debt any quicker but it did help me reduce my monthly outgoings.

My plan for next year will be to clear just two bills which is much more realistic.

Off to update signature and cuddle my new little man!

A vision without a plan is just a dream.
