I feel like I've been making some progress although when you look at the sums it doesn't seem much.

Paid off £815 from my target of £8034 from the credit cards.

    However...
    • Managed to use one credit card to balance transer and have a 0% deal for a time.
    • Now have 3 credit cards in instead of 4 to pay off.
    • All my spending is budgeted for and no longer spending on my credit card.
    • Have saved £700 so far for the big bills that land July (all those once a year bills land July and December for me). It still might not be enough but at least it's less to go on the credit cards.
    • My 2 loans have 2 months (£36 pcm) and 7 months (£380pcm) left till they are paid off. The fixed rate on the mortgage ends July (currently 5.25% dropping to 2% above base). I plan to put the split the £250 I wont be paying between debt and savings (have a buffer in case the interest rates start to go up). I'm looking forward to these dates.
    • I'm really enjoying making savings and tracking my progress now. Every month I seem to be chipping away at the debt now as opposed to it just getting higher and higher.
    • I have an Easter egg to eat in the fridge.

I just realised that I forgot to report a small payment of £30 to American Express, giving me £5212.47/£6000 paid :)
I think I might just reach my target next month- not bad considering I only started at the end of February!! :D
That doesn't mean the end of my debts- far from it in fact- but I will set myself a revised target and see how I go.
I am loving this thread- seeing how much I am paying off is a real motivator (on the other hand, seeing how much money I could have had to spend is not so good :()

You are making me feel bad - I need to up my efforts (so all good really!!)

and Kdenty - you are doing well, dont get disheartened.
I think it takes a fewdays / weeks or for me months to stop spending and start shifting into repaying mode.

    Keep it up!

    !

    Thank you :D

I still have a looooong way to go to clear my debts, and it won't be quite at the rate of the last 3 months, as I cashed in a savings/insurance plan ans used £3500 of that to pay off some of my debt.

Still, it's going well and for the first time in years it feels as though I am heading in the right direction :p
