Talk Talk/Roxburghe Debt Collection - nightmare!

This is my first post here and hope someone can help me. We moved house in August, and gave Talk Talk a month's notice to cancel our broadband and landline contract. Thought all was OK but of course they hadn't cancelled the contract... strated getting letters re: direct debit bouncing etc. Despite emails, letters and even a phone call when a Talk Talk operative told us we didn't owe anything and it was no wall dealt with, we have now sterted to get threatening letters from Roxburghe debt collection agency on behalf of Talk Talk. They are demanding we pay £52.80 immediately or we will have a CCJ and/or bailiffs. The plain fact is, we don't owe the money - we have tried telling them this but it falls on deaf ears. Talk Talk simply don't respond. WHAT CAN I DO??!!

I don't understand the 'no wall dealt with' part of your post but this sort of thing is not unusual with Talk Talk (they have a left hand and right hand problem).
Keep all emails, letters, other documents and the notes you made at the time about the telephone conversation(s) you had with Talk Talk proving you do not owe anything.
All DCAs try that 'heavy mob' approach but, in reality, they cannot 'send in the bailiffs' - only a Court can do that and, as you must be given the opportunity to put your side of the case, you will know if the matter is to be put before a court.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Sorry - that's my bad typing. It should have said 'now all' not no wall!
Thank you for the response. I've now read quite a bit about what to do with DCA's so am preparing my next move...0 -
Stand your ground you know you are right, ask for a transcript of your call with talk talk on the day you cancelled your contract, they may charge you £10 but they have to find it and type it out. Hopefully this will give you the proof you need.0

To start with I would send Roxburge the prove it letter - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=11570893&postcount=2 - asking them to prove that the debt exists and prove that they have a right to collect it.
Do you have any emails or a letter from talk talk to say you don't owe anything? or did they only confirm that by phone?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Brilliant advice everyone - I feel much more confident about tackling this. I didn't know it was possible to order the transcript of a conversation so I shall definitely do that - it was the only time Talk Talk said there was no money owed (as they have never responded to the written word) so I don't mind paying to get that piece of evidence.0
