Really I wouldn't worry about this, I am a LL and would only really be concerned about dogs that are allowed to soil the carpets or bark incessantly annoying the neighbours- I always ask to meet the potential 'dog' tenant as well as their owners when people look round as you can get a good general feel for what the people and dog are like, not 100% certain of course though. I really wouldn't bat an eyelid at a hamster so chances are your LL won't either.

Not having a go, but in future I would be open and honest from the outset- if people admit to having pets chances are it won't really go against them but it creates a good impression if tenants mention what they have.

Hamsters can do quite a bit of damage if they get the chance. I had a hamster that managed to pull out the plug from the bottom of their cage (it was one of those rotastac cages where you could add an extension to the bottom via a tube) and chewed a perfectly round hole in the carpet. And on the odd occasion it escaped we found more holes in the carpets.

That being said, if your hamster does this kind of damage, then the LL can claim it from your deposit. I wouldn't worry about it too much, if the LL was that bothered he would have said something at the time.
