According to the proof readers, no, I really was expected to take part in a spot of early-morning drinking and won't be paid
Never make assumptions!
Well, who in their right mind would be drinking at 9am!!0 -

I thought this until I was 19 and went to uni in Edinburgh and found myself working in The Red Lion Bar at 0530 in the morning. It was always a bit surreal when I stayed in halls as other students would get off the nightbus at Riccarton !!!!ed as I was getting on it to go to work. It was always busy as well.
Those were the days lol, i'm starting to get all nostalgic.0 -

Knowing the client half their regular customers
Nice pint with breakfast to set the day up for a few more pints and a couple of hours down the bookies before a few shorts and bed. Or is that just my local? It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Nope, you have managed to sum up the one nearest me to a tee, even the airport ones can be dodgy0 -

Course when I say my 'local' I refer to all the ones in the towns in a 5 mile radius of my current home, and three I used to visit fairly regularly when I live ooop norf, and the one next door to the bookies I worked at in Jockistan - I did wonder for a time if they have a farm somewhere breeding their typical "regular":eek:It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Alcoholics and mystery shoppers?
Took about 2 sips of the pint of lager I got at the airport last week at 6.10am, before abandoning it.0 -

I used to stay just off Broughton Street in central Edinburgh and my occasional walk up the road to have a swim passed several pubs that would be busy at 8.30/9 am on a Sat morning.
You can't buy alcohol before 10am in supermarkets up here now tho.0 -
There always used to be a non alcoholic option in each list iirc, so you had the option to be able to buy a soft drink and a coffee. Was that not the case this time?0

We went for the coffee and soft drink option but must have stood out like a sore thumb as there were around 15 locals all drinking pints! :eek:0
