  • Am seriously considering writing to the correspondent of said advert and challenging them to register with RE etc and see how many shops and how many hoops they have to jump through to make £100 per day.

The quicker MP and her mini series has finished the better.

DO a general letter and I'd undersign it! See if we can get a response, difficult as there is a no 'body' for them to speak to regarding pay and the like.

  • Is there anyone on here that did the supermarket POS today - there were only 5 in the country - I tried doing mine and it was a nightmare so just sent a long e-mail with the details to the MS company concerned!!!

Well, I suppose one good thing is that, people will sign up to these companies expecting to make £100 a day for doing not much and will soon give up when they realise they wont make that with the likes of RE unless they work 12 hour days!

Yep, I'm fed up of the articles too claiming you can make mega bucks. I bet they don't mention the need to sign up as Self-Employed and to organise your own tax matters (unless you can afford to hire an accountant to do them for you!). Or they probably forget to mention that a good command of the English Language is required. Every Tom, !!!!!! and Harry will probably think that ms'ing is for them.

My accoutant is decent enough but he didn't save me that much money above what I calculated with my spreadsheet this time - In fact the possible deduction that he added were his fees :rotfl:

However incorporation of ltd company (its not just MS'ing I do obvs) should help and I guess you get the advice and the like helps but a good course in bookeeping should be adequate for anyone really.

The MS'ers probably start, do a bit then lost interest, the fees are abysmal and people probably have to have a bit of a pot to start with considering the expenses you incur with gap / re etc.

  • I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but shiny new prezzies are sometimes more trouble than they are worth, wonder if i can give it back.

Regarding GYP coffee, what's normally the process for these appearing?

I've been with them for about 3 years, and do lots of assignments in my area, I'm quite often agreeing to do last minute ones for them and will often also look out for (and do) any outside my normal area if I'm travelling.

So far I've not had a sniff of the coffee assignments, there's no training for them, nothing has been mentioned and I've not had the gifts that have been appearing for several other shoppers.

I've heard of some shoppers having them appearing after only 3 months. Am I doing something wrong (apart from using Gyp in the first place...)?
    Competition wins:
    2010 - approx £450. 2011 - approx £800. 2012 - approx £300. 2013 - nothing so far!

Yep that's a full week's work for team Mel, too, then!:D
Also mentioned that MSers get paid around £100 a day to visit banks, shops, etc..............
I'm really sick of all these articles that make MSing sound like easy money. Yes, I do sometimes earn £100 on a day, but this is by getting jobs from many different agencies and is a very full day (often with the reports going on the following day).
    D.

The same old "money for old rope" stuff in the press makes us look like a bunch of idiots. I agree with DA on this.

A good day for me could be a lot more than £100. But it doesn't happen every day (more's the pity). And it only happens because companies are paying me over the odds. In such cases, I put in more than the norm when reporting (I well and truly make sure that I deserve the enhanced pay rate). I'd like to see evidence that anyone, especially a newbie (or relative newbie) can clear that sort of money every day at standard pay rates! Maybe the £100/day includes reimbursements???;)

Mind you, video MSers could probably earn £100/day with not too much trouble. I'm not sure they could find enough video work to fill five days a week every week, though.

I didn't get Gyp coffee until I actually asked for it. Gyp are not keen on adding you if they already have enough assessors in the area/s that you will cover.

The jobs themselves were fine, but I was sacked after about a year for being too honest. It is Gyp, after all!;)

I was given "coffee status" playing the hard to get game over a burger job they were desperate for and that was my sweetener. Maybe you're too easy (on the last minute jobs);)
