just to clarify, the government has commenced the austerity measures... things will be sorted in the future... times will be hard, but, then, so will just about every other countries difficulties be passed onto the local population too.

Lets not get over excited about it thou!...

Times were hard in the 1940's getting bombed every night, who would have thought we would all be so technologically advanced as we are now, but here we are, look at the freedoms we have, look at the life styles we lead! Its all good and could be a hell of a lot worse.

Who should I make my 33k cheque out too?

Give it charity, the government would just spend it any ways.

    Couldn't agree more

Those who are forecasting the end of the world need to look back 70 years. When the chips are really down - and no, I don't mean having your flat screen repo'd, I mean a 500 lb bomb down your chimney - the UK always manages to pull through.

it's different this time though [apparently]...

they're telling us we're going to have rampant inflation and the only asset class that won't be affect is property...

everything else will shoot up in cost and value but property will exclusively crash... no wait have i missed something here...
  • I don't agree that any big crash will occur in near future, we may see a bit of downward movement but no crash

    Its possible
The Sun follows an 11-year cycle of high and low periods of solar activity. It is now leaving a notably quiet phase and scientists expect to see a sharp increase in the number of solar flares as well as unprecedented levels of magnetic energy.
The rings of fire, which have the power of 100 hydrogen bombs, could cause twenty times more economic damage than Hurricane Katrina.
Experts met in Washington DC in June to discuss how to protect Earth from the ferocious flares, which are expected sometime around 2013.

I make that about 6.1% interest. Not exactly the best but I think this might be related to a positive factor which is the 13 year average length of the government debt. Hopefully that gives us enough leeway to get out of things

Swing back to the negative comes when you consider all the debt not included in the 1tn figure. 80% of RBS is owned by government and RBS also has another 1tn in debt. we doomed :shhh:
