VW Dane dealer wirral

Well I am not a happy bunny really.
I went into the local VW garage Last friday enquiring about the EOS. There was one in the showroom in black in the model that we want to buy. I looked at the car inside and out for 35 minutes. I wanted to be approached and looked around at salesmen and also into the managers offices to see if I could get there attention.... NOTHING. It was not busy and I was dressed in a suit as I work in sales myself I could not believe that no one approached me. So, after another 10 minutes checking out the car, reading the brochure, checking colours etc I was approached by a young lad who had his hands in his pockets asking if I was 'ok mate' ?
I then asked him a simple question 'Is the alloys on this car the standard ones ?' when I turned around he had his mobile in his hand texting and asked me to repeat my question as he had not heard me.
After repeating myself he said he had 'only been here a week' and to ask Phil 'over there'.
Phil was looking on the PC and when asked was he busy he replied not really no and asked 'what did I want?'
So I asked phil the same question. He said they were and asked when I was looking at buying the car.....
I asked him about cruise control and seats etc and what other extras were available and he said I could have anything and handed me an extras brochure and said look in there...
I was quite shocked at this level of 'service' and also the lack of knowledge on a £20000+ car, but even if I had enquired about ANY car I would have expected to be approached as a potential customer and treated so.
What happened next took the biscuit. I asked him to price up a car based on the spec I had chosen myself from the extras book. I asked could he do that and print me off a quote so I could look at it when I got home and discuss with work and also the missus as it was a joint decision.
He said yes and after all this he showed me the top figure and when I asked him for the quote so I could take it home he gave me a pink post it note with the figure on it. That was it.
I am supposed to be going on a test drive at 11am tomorrow and I am going to speak to the sales manager and take my business elsewhere.
My custom does not feel wanted and after having VW's for 12 years both new and second hand this experience is not VW if you get my drift.
Sorry for the long rant and thanks for reading if you have got to this point but this has enraged me. When I am obviously looking for help and in a position to buy then I want to be informed of what we get for the money by someone who knows what they are talking about. Then I get the trust from the future service we will receive.
My faith in that dealership is now gone.

You need to have trust and faith in a dealer when you're spending that sort of money, I'd definately go elsewhere.0

I have only just moved (well about 6 months) so will now drive 100 miles to my old dealer.
I have already spoke to them and they said that they will deliver the car (on a truck) to me at no cost anyway !
Well no cost for the delivery
Chester car dealers are all up there own !!! anyway. No way I will go to Chester as had bad experience with Renault with the wifes megane a year back.
The thing is tomorrow I will tell them this and they probably will not care.
But I will email VW care to tell them as it is not right. I will also sing the praises of the other garage who are going above and beyond.Man who stands on toilet is high on pot. - Old chinese proverb.0 -
Thats shocking. If thats the level of service you get when buying a car from them wonder what its like if you take it back due to a fault.
Lol at the young kid. When i did my work experience i was asked questions and if i didnt know about it i would ask another member of staff to help me out straight away (and wouldnt leave until i wasnt needed) I once went into maplins and asked for help on some audio cable. The kid said "Ive only just started here on work experience" and walked off ...no i'll get some help.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -

Isnt it. I walked out of there thinking 'has that just f'ing happened' ?
I told the wife and she is furious too. So they are going to have double trouble tomorrow. I really don't believe that the test drive will be ready. I think he will not have booked it at all. As he did not write it down or anything.Man who stands on toilet is high on pot. - Old chinese proverb.0 -
I am not in car sales but I am in a competetive market where a price will be beaten by somebody with no overheads, no after sales service and no idea what they are doing.
I should imagine that he did not give you a full, detailed, quote because anybody would beat that.
You say you are in sales yourself so you must know not to pre-judge.
Were your shoes dirty, tie crinckled, crap watch?
All salespeople are told to look out for good shoes, nice tie, expensive watch, but in reality this gives them a good case to pre-qualify you.
They are rubbish and you must buy elsewhere:o
And furthermore you know it:TS!!!!horpe0 -

I would not go to someone with no overheads, and no service.
I explained why I wanted it and expected a nice quote for the money that I am going to pay.
I dont call that pre-judging
My shoes are always clean, My tie is always spot on and my watch is nice enough (I have worked hard for my money)
Just felt I needed a rant about it.
I also am a bit disappointed though.
And you know I am looking somewhere else and I amMan who stands on toilet is high on pot. - Old chinese proverb.0 -
You misunderstand me my friend
In the car game you cannot really buy without back-up
And as for the numpties in the sales department why would they be allowed to act like that? I can only imagine that the sales manager was on training that day.S!!!!horpe0 -

No I just did not get my agreement with you across very well
