    Agreed, I have O&O.

However, with faster processors, cheaper memory and bigger hard drives, it isnt as essential as it was, say, when we were running 33Mhz 386 processors with 8mb ram and 40mb hard drives. (That's megabytes as opposed to gigabytes for the younger readers!).

Likewise, screensavers used to be essential to prevent "burn" - these days, they're more novelty value than anything else.

Technology progresses at an alarming rate.........

Chuckles, you brought a smile to my cynical !!!!!! of a face!!! Just remembered how chuffed I was and how jealous (seriously) my mates were when I upgraded from a 386 to a 486 (with MMX!) AND put an extra 32MB RAM in to bring it to a staggering 64MB!!! Cost me an absolute !!!!!!! fortune too!!!! That's about ten years ago and now I own a mobile phone with a faster processor, more memory and more displayed colours.

Life in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"

I can still remember buying a 386 and being asked by the salesperson on the end of the phone did I want to upgrade my graphics card from 1mb to 2mb for "just" an extra £40 ("you'll really notice the difference if you play a lot of games") :D

Mind you, I can remember playing a fully functional game of human v cpu chess on a ZX81 with 1k of memory (graphics were crap but it could play!!)

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.
