Tuesday 14th December - What small DFW things will you do today???!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!:money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Morning everyone :santa2:
A bit earlier than yesterday (I think) but still rushing around like a mad woman as usual!

Phew, Tuesday! That means we made it through Monday! :T Real achievement for me as I thought I was going to scream in work yesterday. That place is really winding me up atm. Think I need, say, 11 days outta the office over Christmas :p Can't come quick enough for me

Here's what I'm doing:
  • Check banking
  • Finish cowl
  • Put away vacuum bags - avoided this yesterday again :o
  • Cheap porridge brekkie
  • Buy soup for lunch
  • Enjoy my free tea
  • Keep calm in work - be an :A not an  ... Stresshead is not a good look :o
  • Pennies for the jar?
Picasso - saw your post on yesterday's thread - hope you are feeling better since the op. Big hugs.

Good morning all out there. Thanks for starting the thread La E.

I've got up to check my banking as yesterday there was a credit of £75 but the full details take 24 hour to show up. It was my first WTC payment :T. It may not be much, but it's £75 more than I had a few days ago :D. I asked for weekly payments, so I wonder if that's the weekly amount or if it includes back pay? Hopefully a letter will arrive to explain it all soon.

    So far I have:
    • run WM on Economy 7
    • run DW on Economy 7
    • phone charging on Economy 7 - forgot to take charger to work yesterday!
    • made a lunch to take to work
    • checked banking
    I will also:
    • feed and water chickens and ask for some eggs
    • take HM jam to work to sell (I didn't realise I could get £2 a jar )
    • deliver 2 sock monkeys and get paid
    • keep an eye out for surveys
    • knit at lunchtime to avoid the shops
    • ask for Thursday off to concentrate on making Xmas presents
    • stay overnight at DDs so have dinner there
    • probably an NSD as I know tomorrow won't be one :(
That's probably not all, but it's too early to think!

    Catch up later, stitchy x

Morning LaE and SW and to all that follow!

I have my AAT Budgeting exam in just under 2 hours! As normal i haven't revised anything! I think the fact the practice one was really easy has led me into a false sense of security! So getting a bit nervous now and feel very irresponsible for not going over my note - especially as a resit is £40!

    Today

    Exam!
Buy last bits for Mum for xmas
Home for sky install! (half price sky for a year!!)
    DD2's xmas play at 1.30 and 6pm
In between take DD2 for Rainbows with a plate of cheese sadwiches for a party
    Housework and wrap presents

    Thats me for today! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Morning All,

Thanks for starting the thread LaE

Hello to those who have posted before and will post after me. Hi to all new posters. Hugs to those that need them.

    Today I have/will
    • Checked online banking – an extra gym DD has gone out (in error) and has taken me overdrawn on a step account…….panicking slightly as it is not showing a credit balance when I transfer money over to compensate
    • Printed out a statement for the past couple of months to show there are no missed payments to the gym in the past couple of months
    • Need to confirm with the bank at lunchtime what is going on with regards the above and ask what the charges will be
    • Need to confirm there is enough in the account to cover a DD due out tomorrow
    • Check emails
    • Meals from storecupboard
    • Used my rail pass to get to work
    • Catch up with friends on FB rather than texting people
    • Read newspaper online and get the free newspaper at the station
    • Need to check out the freebies and the competition boards
    • Drink 4 glasses of water at work
    • LSD – might pick up my Christmas cards
    • Picked up chocolate from the mini snack pack before I left so I do not succumb to the vending machine when the mid morning snack attack happens!
    • Enter comps online
    • Washing on a quick wash 30 degrees
    • Catch up with this thread when I get home (I don’t get a chance at work)

Have a fantastic Tuesday fellow DFW’s – you can tell that my morning has started out greatly!

  • Good morning everyone!

I'm feeling very positive this morning having lost another 1.5lbs this week so far :) so I hope my good energy will rub off on some of you!

    Today I will:
    • Write a shopping list before I go so I won't overspend on junk
    • Not buy lunch but will eat some soup I've brought from home
    • Look at my budget for 2011 and see where I can cut down on costs
    • Not look at any clothes websites because it doesn't do my purse any favours
And I'll do any other money saving bits along the way as well.

Hope you all have a lovely day :j

    Good morning everyone,

Half asleep again today...*yawns* More coffee needed!

Hope everyone is well & is getting into the festive spirit! I can't believe how soon it is - I really need to get cracking with a few presents etc.

    Today I have/will:-
    • Finish 2011's bills diary & calendar
    • Make a homemade xmas card for my mum & dad
    • Finish up organising the accounts paperwork
    • Update spending diary - I think I may give up on this until the new year!
    • [STRIKE]Update food diary/plan[/STRIKE]
    • Find items to ebay
    • Keep reading through "losing lbs whilst saving £££'s" thread
    • Finish pots of gold
    • [STRIKE]Work on "Girls night in packs"[/STRIKE]
    • Call Orange & try to switch tariff
    • [STRIKE]Enter competitions[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Check for surveys[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Charge phone at work[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Washing on quick 15mins wash[/STRIKE]
    • Wrap presents
    • [STRIKE]Tidy up more[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Washing up[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Dinner from cupboards - think we're having chicken with rice & veg tonight[/STRIKE] :)
    • Spend at least 10mins going over my tkd terminology - I asked my instructor about grading & he's said we'll probably do it at the start of Feb, & since it's £30 to grade I would really like to not mess up!
    • [STRIKE]Think some more about what to include on my 101 things in 1001 days list[/STRIKE] (Thanks to Stitchy for the idea). I am up to number 60 now but I'm unsure if I can leave a few blank until I know where I will be going on holiday (for example if I visit Egypt, seeing the pyramids would have to be added to the list, or if I went to Australia then scuba diving off the great barrier reef would have to be added). Does anyone know if I can do this?
Hope everyone has a great, moneysaving day x
