If I get an ipod, do you have to download through itunes?
Son has got an ipod touch but never uses it since he got his Blackberry!

no you only have to use itunes to sync the music (eg put music from your computer to the ipod), you can use anyother music service to download songs (eg amazon mp3) or just buy the CDs, infact I would actively say do not use itunes to buy your music as they are a ripoff plain and simple.

another win for an mp3 player...."normal" copy/paste/drag'n'drop/delete without having to use a pants software package to get stuff on and off the player....

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

    I'd recommend the Cowon J3: http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/shop/MP3_Players.1/Cowon_iAudio.15/COWONJ3-32GB-/Cowon_J3_32GB_MP3_Player.4380.html

I've had an iPod (which I hated), Creative (which was sub-par) Sonys are only worth it for their cheaper models.

    Sansa make good players, also.
I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

Is it really more convenient dragging and dropping a few tracks at a time, as opposed to letting Itunes copy all the tracks you want in 1 go?

there's the ultimate money-saving solution there then - wipe the ipod touch and give it to hubby ;)

..and itunes is complete pants as far as software goes (IMHO :) )

Ha ha.....son paid for it & still uses it, just not much ;)

That is why we have always gone with Creative :)

We have never used itunes, but, for some reason I thought you had to use itunes!

Absolutely yes (IMHO). I like control over what I'm doing with my music, and ease of editing it and everything else. I don't like being forced do do things a certain way 'coz some carpy software says I have to

Weird logic. The mp3s get on your mp3 player either way. Funny thing to want 'control' over.

So you don't mind being forced to drag and drop?

No I don't. All apple software I've tried is carp, I can organise my music myself easy enough, thanks. Don't need apple to do it for me...
