Do I have right to demand replacement rather than repair?

  • I think you'll find you have no other choice. It lasted more than 6 months the law assumes a faulty product will break in 6 months.

get it repaired if it breaks before a reasonable person would expect it to then it was not of sufficent quality and you can use the quality aspect from the sale of gods act that should atleast get them to repair it again if it breaks after the 6 months.
  • Why not buy a second-hand camera body of the same make as your other camera so you can use the lenses you already have and won't be stuck over Christmas?

Or alternatively buy a flashgun. The integral flash on a digital slr camera is usually not very powerful and a separate flash will give you far better results.

    Hope this helps!
  • The internal flash on cheaper SLRs does strain the battery of these items. A separate flash would be more beneficial

yes you can ask for a replacement, your are entitled to your choice of a repair, replacement, or reduction in price. BUT the retailer can refuse your request if it is disproportionately expensive compared to the others. This means that if a repair will cost them £50 but a new camera will cost them £300, you ain't getting a new one. Conversely you can't insist on a repair if it will cost £600 but a replacement will cost them £300.
