Ugh! It's Monday...
This Monday has come way too early. I seem to be having insomnia issues and didn't sleep at all Saturday so it feels like my weekend was only one day longYou'd think I'd get more done with all the awake time I've got but in fact the opposite is true. I may not be sleeping but I'm constantly exhausted... I'll have to get some sleeping pills if this continues.
I solved my book rant. when I took my mom shopping I was having the same rant to her and she decided to treat me by buying the book I couln't find and the next one in the series (they were on bogof) so at least I've had something to read during myspurt of insomnia.
Friday is payday (Yay!) I'm looking forward to updating my accounts although I have had to pay my car tax which was more than I thoughI should still have a few extra £ to pay off my debts. I'm going to miss not having to pay council tax... Despite my best efforts I have treated myself a couple of times this month so I'm going to have to tighten my belt again but I haven't been too extravigant despite the temptation of my bonus money so it won't be too difficult. I'm also looking forward to being able to say I have under 2 years on my loan on the first... next target under 18 months
Being debt free is starting to feel like a real possibility despite the effort involved. Fingers crossed I shouldn't have any big costs now until my car needs a MOT in September.
Hope everyone is having a more restful week than me!0 -
Well Monday was awful but atleast it's Tuesday and I've had a little sleep
I checked my accounts this morning and realised that I'm doing better this month than I thought. I should be able to pay off about £150 on my credit card come pay day and another £85 when the overpayment on one of my old cards is paid back
I'm still looking forward to seeing what my pay is like next month after all the adjustments have been made. I hope I'm right about how much of an difference there will be but every pennie counts
Hump day tomorrow thank goodness!0 -
So it's nearly the end of another month and soon I'll be totting up the months accounts again and looking forward to seeing my loan go down another little bit.
I was paid on Friday and have just added £222 to my sealed potI still haven't received my £85 refund from my credit card so I can add that when it arrives next month too
After a lot of deliberating I decided that it would be better to pay off my OD next. I don't want to as it's going to be the hardest debt to pay because it just doesn't feel like debt but at the moment it's rushed up to the number one spot as far as snowballing is concerned... After all once my 18 months interest free run out I will probably be able to get another card to extend it but my OD will always cost the same. Plus if I have my overdraft clear I will no longer need to keep an emergency credit card and it was quite nice this month when I realised that I was nearly in the black after I was payed (shocking to be excited about nearly being out of my OD after being paid) The OD is £2k but I've already paid off nearly £300 and if I'm directing all my overpayments in that direction I should be able to pay that off well before I run out of 0% and my credit card. I'm just going to have to extend inhuman self control to stop myself dipping into it for any number of the things that I really really want.
I have decided that I will be dipping into my overpayment funds once this year though. I've got a big birthday comming up and as a treat I'm thinking about going on a girls weekend to my favourit city, Rome. I'll just have to make sure I have a good look around for cheap deals.
Right, I'll post a full update next week when I do my accounts.
Have a good week0 -
Ugh, it's Monday!
I'm absolutely exhausted today after a very long weekend entertaining friends, helping my best friend move and entertaining my mother. I could have done with at least 6 more hours sleep this morning!!
I've come to the conclusion that whenever there is money in the bank I am doomed to have something go wrong or some appliance need replacing. This time it was the car causing problems.
Last summer on one of the few hot days I was driving with friends in the back seat which is rare when we discovered that the back windows went doen but not upas it was a Sunday this was even more of a problem. After a little bit of investigation a trip to the garage the next day I found out that the front console was sending out a overriding signal to open the windows... To replace the console with a new one would cost £300!!! and I couldn't find a new one anywhere not even on ebay so I had the rear windows disconnected. Inconvenient but better than a £300 bill. The front windows have worked fine up until last week when I realised that the passenger window wasn't oppening and then finally at the weekend my driver side window started opening automatically every time I start the car
So £300 bill comming up.
Luckily I decided to check ebay again and as luck would have it someone was selling a full set of window switches for exactly the right model for £40 :j I put in a offer of £30 and it was accepted and as I had to fit a new door console on my last car a few years ago I'm pretty sure I'll be able to fit the new console to my current car too. And even better I only need the driver side console and the rear passenter side so I can make a little bit of money back by putting the two remaining switches back on ebay.I'm feeling very relieved right now and looking forward to getting my car back to full working order
Anyway, that's my little pannic for the week over with. I'm hoping that's the only one!
Have a good week!0 -
Why the frilly heck did I not try removing the door panel and wiggling the wires BEFORE I bought a new electric window switch *sigh* Oh well. At least I'll be able to fix the car so the back window works again!0

It has been absolutely ages since I posted so I thought I'd better do a update.
I've spent the past month or so going to festivals which was great but not too good for my wallet. I'm back on track now and very close to my goal of paying off £4k of debt.
I've got a couple of new mini goals going...
The first was to find 100 items around the house and eBay them for 99p... So far I've sold about 40 of those items and I've earned about £200 (After p&p) :j Once I sold 20 items I decided to up my target to £200 but now I've met that I suppose I'll have to up it to £300. I never would have believed that my junk was worth so much but as I'm pretty sure that the rest of my items aren't worth much I can't see myself making much more.
My second mini goal is to pay off a extra £650 off my loan before the end of the year. At the moment my load is due to be paid early '13 but if I make it to this goal I will finish paying the loan late '12 which sounds a lot better to me and given how the eBaying has gone I only need another £450 over 4 1/2 months which sounds reasonable. :T
I've also been continuing to do online surveys which have recently paid out a £10 Amazon voucher and £4.50 cash to my Paypal account. I could have made much more but I kind of lost interest as I couldn't see the credit mounting up because it takes time to clear. I've now redoubled my efforts and already have another £3.50 pending on one of my accounts.
I did have a crack at free Bingo but after having it running in the background on my PC for about a week without winning so much as 20p I decided that it wasn't worth the time involved.
And I conssidered matched betting but my poor addled brain just couldn't cope with the instructions and I'm not the sort of person who enjoys betting, I just find it stressfull.
So that's my update. I stoped updating when summer started (We had the best of summer in April!) and now it looks like summers over and I'm back again. Time to batten down the hatches and start counting my pennies again. :money:0 -
Oooh, hello missus! It's good to see you back and well. I was wondering after you at the weekend and looked up your blog to check you were still around, so it's quite a coincidence you've looked in today. It's great that things are going well for you. Good luck for seeing off that loan early."Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
Hi Wordsmith, how's you?
You're about the third person this month to tell me they were randomly thinking of me after not being in contact for a while and then a couple of days later they heard from me... to be honest it's starting to get a bit spooky lol0 -
