Just returned from visiting my brother who lives in Dubai. Although my knowledge is limited just be aware to visit Ferrari world on a day the roller coaster is available. We visited couple of weeks ago and all themed rides closed for maintenance. We decided to visit Atlantis instead of Wild Wadi on recommendation from people who live in palm. The best burger I've tasted can be purchased with beer and chip for £15 but worth it. The ice cream place on exiting Atlantis is worth a visit also for the ice-cream staff gymnastics:0)Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop once in a while and look around, you might miss it. Ferris Bueller was on to something there.0 -
Hi Leocan
thanks for the ferrari world info, i'll phone before we go, as for Aquaventure i'm getting the Entertainer which has vouchers for the park & vouchers for some of the eateries so the book cost £50, entry to Aquaventure £35ish burger beer & chips £15ish so i'll get free entry & free snack & the book has paid for itself(i get 2 beers cos my 15yo cant drink lol).

Hi - does anyone have any other suggestions of what to do in Dubai? I go in 2 weeks to visit my friend who will be working half the time I am there.
I was thinking about maybe a night or two in the desert? camel riding?
I'm definitely not a shopper so won't be visiting the mallsMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Firstly let me thank JCorbygas for her invaluable help just got back from a great time in Dubai.
Ladyhawke i went for 8 days & didnt get half the things done i wanted to, someone wrote that 4 days is enough in Dubai well different strokes etc etc. There is Ballooning, Desert Safaris, Dhow Cruises, Camel Rides, Theme Parks, Aquaparks, Museums, Canal Walks, even tea at the worlds tallest building, theres golf courses, fitness centres there is a world of things to do, although you dont want shopping the local markets are good. If you need any help ask JCorbygas

Thanks Spursman - glad you had a great time - now the only problem is that you get addicted to Dubai (well I am anyway) and keep wanting to go back but I
am definitely in no financial position to do so!
(Let me know what you thought of the hotel etc)
Best wishes
Jackie
(For loads of info on what to do I suggest going on www.tripadvisor.co.uk on the Dubai forum where there are lots of helpful people - especially Latti (who could write a book just on her great trip reports).0 -

DCFC each holiday destination is different to different people, my daughter & i thoroughly enjoyed Dubai but we wont be rushing back as we like to go to different places. I have personally been to Mexico 3 times & hated it every time, i have been to Florida numerous times but with the exception of the Keys hate the place, I have been to numerous Caribbean Islands hate Barbados but have been twice, had a disasterous holiday in St Lucia but loved the island, i have no doubt whatsover that i will go to Florida again & Mexico again, i have no intention of going back to Barbados but i cant promise i'll never go back. Dubai had its good points & places, it also had its bad points & luckily i didnt find its bad places, i did all the touristy things, but also took time out to do some cultural things, 1 thing i loved about the place was that apart from 1 man at JBH i didnt see any drunks, EVERY other holiday i have seen people falling over drunk. But 1st & foremost i go on holiday to enjoy myself & thats what i did in Dubai & try to do whenever i go away whether home or abroad.
all the best

ps JCorbygas i will write later about the fabulous hotel0
