  • Where are you staying? and how long for?
Prices for soft drinks in hotels are around £5 and beers or glass of wine around £7. You can eat as cheaply or expensively as you want in Dubai so if I know where you are staying I could recommend some places.

Have you done any research into the weather in May? If you enjoy staying indoors 24/7 it will be ideal for you, if you expect to go outside, avoid.
  • watching this thread with interest going to Dubai for christmas staying at Crowne Plaza Festival City B&B get a cheap lunch at Ikea just need cheap food & drink in the evening have got a Time out card will get The Entertainer just for Wild Wadi/Atlantis Aqua Park/Ferrari World any other help greatly appreciated
    all the best

  • Spursman - a great restaurant near the Dubai Mall is The Mezze House (if you want to eat traditional food) No alcohol served but reasonable prices for food. If you are getting The Entertainer there will be many 2 for 1 deals on eating out.
Also you are not too far in a taxi to Le Meridien by the airport where there is a great choice of restaurants including The Terrace where every night is a drinks inclusive price with fantastic food - I know around £50 per person is not cheap but when you consider all your drinks are included it works out OK - (obviously it is cheaper with soft drinks)

To other poster - May is not too hot in my opinion - July to September are quite uncomfortable but you should still be able to eat outside in May.

  • Is there a particular reason you have chosen there? The reason I ask is that you will be relying on cabs/metro all the time as its far away from the Malls.(and not close to anything really) You will find the food and drink very expensive at Atlantis- if you want an idea of prices try asking your query on the Dubai forum on www.tripadvisor.co.uk

Jcorbygas thanks so much for your help on this & other Dubai threads. The Entertainer has a 2-4-1 vouchers for The Terrace so i'll have a look at that bit expensive for my taste but may have to indulge myself. I actually have 3 or 4 Entertainer vouchers without buying the book but i'll have to buy it for the Aquaventure/Wild Wadi tickets. Ferrari World is too new for vouchers but i'm sure someone will do a deal out to Abu Dhabi.
My Time-out card could save me some dosh as well, going next Tuesday with a free stopover in Qatar cant wait.
    thanks again JCG

  • Spursman - hope you have a great holiday - I'm very envious. The CPFC is in a great position near the malls and on someones trip advisor forum posting there were some lovely pictures of it.
I was just making sure you knew of Le Meridien as it has such a variety of eating places and cheaper ones than the all inclusive buffets ie the Irish bar.
Apart from Mezze House which I suggested there is another traditional Arabic food restaurant at Souk Al Bahar which is just over the bridge from Dubai Mall - it is the first restaurant when you are over the bridge - lovely food and good prices.
Hope you enjoy the fountains and if you get a chance try and have a drink at Neos bar in The Address hotel - great place to see the fountains and although expensive for a drink - around £7 for a glass of wine it is well worth it for the experience.
    Best wishes

Jackie(if i may be so bold) you have been a great help to me & my 15yo daughter we will be checking out most of your recommendations, i have tried numerous times to hit the thanks button but it is not letting me do so. I will raise a glass to you from Dubai on Christmas day
Thank you so much once again.
btw we went to Vegas last year & my daughter loved the Bellagio fountains(not as much as she loved hanging off the edge of the Stratosphere we've got to go back next year as they now do Bungee Jumping off it i am scared already)
    all the best

  • Thats all right Larry - I'm just glad I was of some help - your datughter will love the shops in Dubai (even though they are more expensive than here ) but if you want to pm me I can tell you another area to go shopping in.
Unfortunately your daughter will not be able to go to Neos due to her age but you get fantastic views of the fountains from all around the area.
If you have not been to Dubai before you will either love it or hate it - but I know you will love the hotel and service you get.
