  • Go and see the store manager at the store you brought it from he may be willing to replace it for you and he'll take care of all the comet official proccess for you if your lucky. also the manufacturer should provide you with a years free warrenty wery kind of them as there is no obligation to do so. Ring them dirrect and they'll come and sort it out might take lnger than comet.

Oh don't use the TV by doing so you excepting the fault comet would be perfectly in there rights to refuse to do anything then not that they would.

    1. try and see if the store can help.
    2. wait for comets engineer to confirm the fault.
    3. if comet fail use the manufactures warrenty.

I am having problems returning a 4 day old faulty plasma tv to comet, does any body have a effective email adress for them please?

    Thanks

    Hi mattg1982,

Although we do have to confirm the fault this does not necessarily mean an engineer will have to visit you. Therefore if you call our service helpline on 0844 800 9595, option 3 so that they can complete a diagnostic with you over the telephone and then advise you on how best to proceed.
    Thanks

I am the official company representative of Comet. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

    Thanks for replying matt.

Unfortunately it's very easy to say that, however after about 10 phone calls to customer services and a visit to my local store, I still had to wait for a engineer. Customer services were in my opinion terrible, couldn't care less just want to shift you from one person to the next. My local 'manager' just said that nobody in his store was able to confirm the fault! I mean it is a 3" black line down the side of the screen. So that was a wasted trip. So after owning a 1000 pound tv for 7 days and it working for 3 of them an engineer came out and confirmed the fault. So then I Had to drive another 60 miles to get a new one. No offer of delivering one because of tbd hassle.

So all in all I'm not at all impressesd with comet. I have always supported the high street shop, thinking that you get superior after sales service than a Internet shop. Well I won't be buying anything grim comet again.

I am also seeking advice to whether there policy of not excepting a faulty tv in there store without a engineer visit is even legal. I was always under the impression that if a product is faulty you can return it no question to the store you bought it from within 28 days.

    Thanks

    Matt

I do hope you received your out of pocket expenses for returning the faulty item as you are entitled by consumer law (which does not apply to comet by the way:mad:).

The problem with many large companies now is that there is a JFDI style of management and anyone who deviates from the rules will not last long.
