Well that was straight and to the point...
Care to enlighten us all what the problem is?

Yeah sorry.
Basicly I bought a 50" panasonic tv from comet last Wednesday, on Sunday night the set turned off when I turned it back one there is a 3" thick black line running down the right hand side if the screen.
I rung comet this morning to get a returns number so I could take it back, however they say I can't take it back cus it's more than 72 hours old! I have to wait for an engineer to come out and confirm it's broke. Then in up to a week they will send me a new one. (thanks).
Appetently there is nobody in store qualified enough to state whether the set is faulty or not.
I was under the impression that if the item is faulty and it's less than 28 days the store HAS to swap it or offer a full refund.
I can't afford to take a day off for a 'engineer', to call round and state the obvious. Then have to wait for a new one. And take another day off work to wait in for that to be delivered.
I just wanted to walk into the store, swap it for a working
One and walk out. It is only 4 days old!
Any advice?

:-)
What is the law? What will they do if I just walk into the store and demand a swap or a refund.
Thanks

I'm not sure. I have the feeling you may have to give them a chance to repair it.:-)

I'm not 100% with all this refunds malarkey to be honest but people will be along soon who will be able to give you a definitive answer.

This page has FAQs about the Sale of Goods Act:hello:0 -
OP, have a look at the MSE Consumer Rights Guide.0

You do have the right to a refund on a 4 day old telly, the problem is the company have the right to make sure it's faulty. Bit of a catch 22 situation.0
