I don't know of any savings account which allows FPS transfers out.

There are several, Tesco for one.

I didn't know about that. Which account is it?

    Edit
OK. It would seem that all Tesco savings accounts support Faster Payments out. I wasn't aware of that but I don't know of any others.

    Thanks, anyway, for the info.

NatWest eSavings supports FPS in both directions.

So NR (the govt) just do it to scalp a few pence of the more gullible/vulnerable/complacent in our society?
    Should be ashamed.

    Let the buyer beware.

Anyway the gullible & complacent are fair game.

Can I thank the posters, Snowman et al, who brought this account to the attention of this forum, enabling me to get in before it closed.

Oh! and thanks to Martin for the forum in the first place.

    Cheers and Merry Christmas!

I have opened the Issue 4 saver acount with Northern Rock and it went almost too smooth. For the first time, I have not being asked for any additional ID or proof, while at the same time Post Office is grilling me over the same information. I didnt even receive an email that my application has been successfull, after loggin in, i could only then see after a couple of days that the account is ready.

It feels dodgy that I could just transfer all my money in there, without having received any physical PIN or welcome package from them. This account could as well have been opened in Nigeria. I requested a callback, and received a very friendly lady that assured me the account is ready and switched it back for me from monthly to annual insterest rate. Btw I also asked about the £1 test deposit and its fine, it would start earning 3% after it reaches 10K.

Was it the same with you guys? Doesn't it feel weird not receiving any confirmation letter by post? I am still tempted to go rather with Post Office for only 0.1% less interest. At least i would get there a monthly interest and could see how the money grows...
    What do you think?

    Regards,
    Houman

More banks are using electronic ID these days so I wouldn't be too concerned about that. It does seem unusual that you had no written confirmation that the application had been successful but it is possible that mail has been delayed due to recent weather conditions.

As between the PO and NR accounts, it's really a matter of which account's terms & conditions suit your requirements best. There have been some concerns raised on MSE regarding Bank of Ireland and its credit rating so you might want to take that into account when deciding.
