Vectone - advertising amazing rate but seems dodgy
In my area Vectone are advertising calls at 1p min to India mobiles aswell as landlines.
I went to their web site to seek full terms and conditions prior to obtaining a sim and to see if this was just a promotion or a permanent rate. Unable to find the info I required online I tried calling customer services - - -
I rang 3 times and selected the option to put me through to discuss the 1p promotion...but the line went dead each time.
I rang 3 more times trying to speak to customer services using another option but - the first call put me on hold for ages and when finallly it sounded like someone was answering the line was cut....so I tried again and both the next 2 call resulted in me being put on hold with music until the music stopped but the call continued soundless for several minutes until I hung up.
I also tried emailing them through their website but the email kept coming up with a problem.
I think this all sounds far more dodgy than simply a company that's been inundated and overwhelmed by customers response to a good offer.
Although keen to use what seems like an extrordinarily good rate - I doubt it exists. I suspect this company is advertising a rate and hoping people will obtain their sim and top up onto a package which charges at 17p or whatever their normal rate is.
If anyone has been successful with this promotion I'd be interested to hear from you.
Regards
p.s They do have another package offering 10 free mins per day with lots of conditions but this is not the one I am interested in.

Nothing dodgy about any of them really Lyca have bad press for incorrect pricing but have said they wont do it again so thats all right then . All of them use a UK operator for coverage and tin can and string for the international calls. Quality is crap but if you only pay 1p a min what do you expect
Nomi used to be on Voda now on H3G
Vectone - T Mob
Lyca Orange/02 depends if you are the plus or not
List goes on....
02 seem to have the biggest share of the MVNO world with LYCA+ and Tesco, giffgaff and others Voda, T Mob, Orange and 3 all have their share. Not much between them all apart from the offers !0 -
Not dodgy then but they are advertising a rate which you can't seem to buy a sim for and customer services does not seem to exist aswell as all telephone line extensions for the proposed rate ending in a dead line and an email system link for queries that fails.
When I said dodgy I was not doubting their existence - but they are clearly advertising a rate and hoping people buy a sim on the normal rate without realising.
Sounds dodgy to me0 -
Another thing to watch out for if you use one of those SIMs is the cost to people calling you from another UK mobile. A friend of ours has Lyca and my OH was surprised to see calls to it be billed outside of her free usage allowance. Numbers beginning 074 (which the Lyca number is) are not included in her allowance to other UK mobiles.
